Job summary

Robertson Residential Group is seeking a Quantity Surveyor in Gateshead to manage the financial and contractual position of building projects. You will forecast, monitor and report costs and value, advising operational managers on commercial matters.

You will maintain financial control systems, prepare monthly reconciliations and help secure timely certification and payment of valuations, while overseeing site progress and variations before final accounts.

Job description

Robertson Residential Group is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor in Gateshead to control the financial and contractual position of building projects. The role involves forecasting, monitoring and reporting costs and value, while advising operational managers on commercial and contract matters. The surveyor will maintain financial control systems, prepare monthly cost and value reconciliations and help secure timely certification and payment of valuations.

Site progress must be monitored so that contractual notices are issued within the required timescales. Responsibilities also include preparing trade and preliminaries forecasts, setting preliminaries budgets with contract staff and checking quotations against project specifications. Regular meetings are used to agree variations before the final account stage.

The recruit will also assist with estimating when required, support accurate and timely tenders, and identify staff training needs. Applicants need relevant qualifications and quantity surveying experience within construction, together with a background in managing budgets.
