Job summary

Drax is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for its Ipswich/Hyrbid team to prepare cost estimates, review drawings, and manage pricing and contracts across EV installation projects.

You will evaluate supplier quotations, collaborate with procurement and design teams, and support value engineering to protect margins and achieve commercial KPIs.

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor or Estimator in construction, grid connections, M&E, installations, energy or EV environments.
• Strong knowledge of construction and electrical systems.
• Experience with standard contracts such as JCT or NEC 3/4.
• Proficient in estimating software and digital tools.
• Reliable, self-sufficient and confident.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and pricing for EV installation projects and ongoing services.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documents to produce bills of quantities and pricing models.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations with Procurement and Commercial teams for best value and risk control.
• Partner with project and design teams to validate quantities, assess build methodologies and budgets.
• Support value engineering, cost optimisation and risk management to protect margins.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure pricing, variations and cost reporting are transparent.

Aboutthe role:

Aspart of the Commercial Team, the Quantity Surveyor will;

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and pricing for EV installation projects andongoing services, covering design, supply chain, installation, and connectionworks.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documents to produce clear billsof quantities and commercial pricing models.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations alongside Procurement andCommercial teams to ensure best value, compliance, and risk control.
• Partner with project and design teams to validate quantities, assess buildmethodologies, and ensure costs align with budgets.
• Support value engineering, cost optimisation and risk management to protectmargins and deliver against commercial KPIs.
• Engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders to ensure pricing,variations and cost reporting are transparent, competitive and client‑focused.

Whowe’re looking for:

Tobe successful in this role you’ll ideally have…

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator within construction,grid connections, M&E, installations, energy or EV environments.
• Strong knowledge of construction and electrical systems, with a clearunderstanding of relevant regulations and standards.
• Experience in managing and executing standard construction contracts such asJCT or NEC 3+4.
• Advanced experience using estimating software and digital tools, with acontinuous‑improvement mindset for accurate and efficient cost management.
• A great attitude, very reliable, self-sufficient and confident
