Job summary

Dr Newitt in Chesterfield (Hybrid) is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support the Solar commercial department and contribute to the Power & Grid business unit as part of a leading UK Solar PV developer.

You will collate cost data, manage budgets, handle contract administration, monitor cash flow, and mentor junior staff while engaging in client meetings and progress reviews.

Qualifications

• 2:2 degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying required.
• 3+ years' experience at Quantity Surveyor level.
• Excellent understanding of Contract Law, NEC experience preferred.
• Strong commercial acumen and financial awareness.
• Willingness to undertake site visits and hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Collate monthly cost data to support CVRs.
• Manage budget control and forecasting for allocated projects.
• Ensure contract administration in line with contract requirements.
• Oversee cash management and cash flow production.
• Prepare forecasting documentation.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, including variations, payments, and final accounts.
• Attend progress meetings and contribute to commercial meetings.
• Conduct site visits and support client meetings with the Commercial Manager.
• Mentor junior staff and ensure governance and internal processes are followed.

ROLE: Quantity Surveyor | HOURS: 40 Hours Per Week | LOCATION: Chesterfield (Hybrid)

Role Responsibilities:

• Collate monthly cost data to support the Commercial Manager with the production of CVRs.
• Manage budget control and forecasting for allocated projects, providing monthly updates.
• Ensure correct contract administration of allocated projects in line with contract requirements.
• Oversee cash management and cash flow production.
• Prepare forecasting documentation.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, including measurement of works, variations, liability trackers, payment notices, and final accounts.
• Attend progress meetings and contribute to weekly commercial meetings.
• Conduct site visits and support client meetings alongside the Commercial Manager.
• Mentor junior staff and ensure work is carried out in line with internal processes and governance.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 2:2 degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying.
• 3+ years' experience working at Quantity Surveyor level.
• Excellent understanding of Contract Law, with NEC suite experience preferred.
• Strong commercial acumen and financial awareness.
• Willingness to undertake site visits.
• Full UK driving licence.
