Job description

Following the award of several new contracts in Northern Ireland, we have a vacancy for a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team. This position can be based in either our BELFAST or COOKSTOWN office.

Bell Contracts & Co Ltd is a professional construction company which operates throughout the UK and Ireland. We provide construction, property redevelopment, and refurbishment services across various sectors.

Responsibilities

1. Analyse construction drawings and specifications to identify labour, material, and specialist requirements
2. Preparation of enquiry documents, sourcing and obtaining material and subcontractor quotations including final negotiations and placement of subcontractor orders
3. Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors on a regular basis to ensure budgets are not exceeded
4. Complete monthly subcontractor valuations through to final account
5. Complete monthly valuations to PQS and record all additional works items
6. Liaise with clients to agree rates/variations and cost analysis
7. Measure works as per contract specific schedule of rates
8. Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts within the agreed timescales
9. Work closely with Management and Accounts to ensure accurate and vigorous cost management of the project to deliver a profitable outcome
10. Provide accurate and robust monthly reports for Management and Client Progress Meetings
11. Attend and participate in Site Progress Meetings

Candidate

1. Ideally have an Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or in other related disciplines. Applicants with HND/HNC or strong construction-related experience will also be considered for the role
2. Experience in an Estimating / Quantity Surveying role within a Main Contracting organisation for at least 2 years
3. Be articulate, proactive with excellent commercial acumen and communication skills, and comfortable working with minimum supervision
4. Be able to demonstrate initiative whilst working in a team environment
5. Proficient in Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project
