Job summary

TM Green Group in Bedford is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a flagship infrastructure project. You will manage budgets, cost reporting and subcontractor negotiations on major civil engineering packages.

The role requires a degree in QS or related discipline, with strong commercial awareness and NEC contract experience. Main contractor background is desirable, and you will work closely with project teams and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Degree or professional qualification in QS/Commercial Management or related.
• Experience with main contractor is desirable.
• Strong understanding of commercial and contractual management.
• Experience with NEC contracts is advantageous.
• Good knowledge of subcontract management, procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.

• Prepare and maintain budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
• Manage subcontractor procurement and commercial negotiations.
• Prepare and assess subcontractor applications, valuations and payments.

• Assist with monthly commercial reporting and forecasting.
• Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts.

• Identify cost savings and value engineering opportunities.
• Support junior members of the commercial team.

Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure

About the Company

We are working with a well-established Tier 1 civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a strong reputation for delivering major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the UK.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Bedford.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on an exciting flagship project, gaining exposure to a high-value, technically complex scheme while working alongside an experienced project and commercial team.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of your project packages, working closely with the project delivery team, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives.

Requirements

• Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
• Experience working for a main contractor is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of commercial and contractual management.
• Experience with NEC contracts would be advantageous.
• Good knowledge of subcontract management, procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Strong commercial awareness and numerical skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a project delivery team.
• Experience working on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects would be advantageous.
