Job summary

NSG Environmental Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to conduct contract management activities on the CA02 Framework and other contracts, delivering pre- and post-contract cost management, NEC4 contract administration and timely reporting to support project objectives.

You will interface with clients and subcontractors, prepare and negotiate sub-contract documentation, manage procurement strategy, assess sub-contract CE’s and payment applications, and

Qualifications

  • University degree or RICS accreditation (essential).
  • Membership of professional body desirable.
  • ISO 9001/14001/45001 knowledge desirable.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent training available.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Client on commercial discussions.
  • Provide commercial advice to Project Managers.
  • Lead on preparation of CE’s.
  • Advise on procurement strategy.
  • Prepare and negotiate sub-contract documentation.
  • Analyze sub-contract bids and submissions.
  • Support PMs in sub-contract management.
  • Manage Early Warning process with Client and subcontractors.
  • Assess sub-contract monthly payment applications.
  • Compile monthly payment applications and present to Client.
  • Prepare monthly project reports.

NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles.

The Role

To conduct contract management activi ties on the CA02 Framework Contract and other Contracts as necessary by undertaking pre and post contract Quantity Surveying services including project cost management, NEC4 contract administration and reporting to ensure effe ctive and timely delivery of project objectives.

Key Objectives
  • Interface with the Client regarding any commercial discussions
  • Provide commercial advice and contract interpretation to the Project Managers
  • Lead on the preparation of all CE’s
  • Advise on a procurement strategy
  • Preparation and negotiation of all sub-contract contract documentation
  • Analyse sub-contract tender cost and contract submissions
  • Provide commercial and contract support to PM’s undertaking sub-contract management
  • Assessment of all sub-contract CE’s
  • Lead on the management of the Early Warning process with Client and the sub-contractors, ensuring commercial risk is analysed and managed
  • Assessment of sub-contract monthly application for payment and issue of payment certificates
  • Compilation of monthly application for payment, presentation and amendment as necessary with the Client.
  • Preparation of monthly report for review/completion by the Project Managers
Person Specification
  • A relevant university degree or a professional accreditation from the Royal Institute for Chartered Surveyors - Essential
  • Membership of appropriate technical / professional body - Desirable
  • IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent - Relevant training will be provided
  • Experienced with working under NEC4 ECC, TSC and PSC contracts using options A, C &E - Essential
  • Well organised with the ability to work to timescales and demonstrate attention to detail- Essential
  • Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information- Desirable
  • Familiar with integrated management system operating procedures and requirements etc- Desirable
  • Competent user of MS Office- Essential
  • Able to organise and prioritise own work- Essential
  • Maintenance of database and physical records and files- Desirable
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of colleagues at all levels and with external stakeholders and contractors- Desirable
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 & 45001- Desirable
Package
  • Overtime – 37.5-60hours per week – Time and half
  • Overtime – 60+ hours per week or Sundays – Double time
  • Life Assurance 3x Salary
  • Pension – Company contributes 5% Individual contributes 4%
