Job summary

Drax is seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join the Forecasting & Hedging Team in the UK. The role focuses on developing forecasting models for import/export portfolios, applying statistical and ML methods, and delivering automated reporting and dashboards to support commercial decisions.

The ideal candidate will have a numerate degree, strong Python/SQL skills, and experience in energy markets or similar analytical roles. Collaboration across teams and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Economics or other numerate discipline.
• Experience with Python and SQL.
• Strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance forecasting models for import/export portfolios.
• Research, evaluate and implement statistical, machine learning and optimisation techniques to improve forecast accuracy and value.
• Lead peer reviews of code, models and methodologies.
• Design and deliver automated reporting, dashboards and visualisations using Python, SQL and Power BI to support portfolio monitoring and decision-making.
• Provide ad-hoc quantitative analyses to support Commercial, Renewables, Strategy and Finance.
• Contribute to development of new forecasting capabilities across demand, generation, weather, pricing and portfolio optimisation.
• Build and maintain scalable data processing and automation pipelines for forecasting workflows.

About therole:

As part ofthe Forecasting & Hedging Team, you will;

• Develop, maintain and enhanceforecasting models across import (consumption) and export (renewablegeneration) portfolios.
• Research, evaluate and implementstatistical, machine learning and optimisation techniques to improveforecast accuracy and commercial value.

• Contribute to the development ofnew forecasting capabilities across power demand, renewable generation,weather, pricing, and portfolio optimisation.
• Build and maintain scalable dataprocessing and automation pipelines to support forecasting and analyticalworkflows.
• Maintain awareness of industrydevelopments, regulatory changes and emerging analytical techniquesrelevant to the UK energy market.

Who we’relooking for:

To besuccessful in this role You'll ideally have…

• Strong quantitative andanalytical skills, supported by a degree in Mathematics, Statistics,Engineering, Physics, Economics or another relevant numerate discipline.
• A good understanding ofwholesale electricity markets and industry fundamentals, or the ability todevelop this knowledge quickly. Ideally, you'll have at least two years'experience in a relevant analytical or energy industry role and experienceof using Python & SQL.
• Strong problem-solving skills,with the ability to use data and modelling techniques to developstructured, practical solutions that deliver commercial value.
• Excellent communication andstakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complextechnical concepts clearly and work effectively across teams and projects.
