GSK Barnard Castle is seeking a Quality Technology & Facilities Specialist (Secondment/FTC) to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness across MSAT, Engineering and Logistics. You will support validation, maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives to drive reliability and patient supply.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of GMP and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with databases or Access is beneficial.

Quality Technology & Facilities Specialist - Secondment / FTC Closing Date: 23rd September 2026 (COB)

GSK Barnard Castle is a key secondary manufacturing site and has invested heavily in industry 4.0 state of the art, bespoke equipment to support sustained new product introductions and volume increases, and as a key supplier of some of GSK’s blockbuster products, the site contributes revenues of ~$2Bn annually.

Position Summary

The Quality Technology and Facilities Specialist is responsible for ensuring the compliance, quality, and operational effectiveness of site technologies, systems, and facilities across Engineering, MSAT, Logistics, Supply Chain, and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. The role supports validation, maintenance, change control, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure operations remain compliant with regulatory requirements, GSK quality standards, and business objectives. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, the Specialist provides quality oversight of technology systems and facility processes, resolves technical and compliance issues, maintains audit‑ready documentation, and drives improvements that enhance reliability, efficiency, and product supply. This role offers the opportunity to make a visible impact on site performance and patient supply while developing expertise across a broad range of quality, engineering, and operational disciplines. Responsibilities
  • Support the operational quality, validation, maintenance, and optimisation of site technologies and facilities (MSAT, engineering and logistics) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and GXP standards.
  • Assist in the implementation and documentation of technology systems and facility processes, ensuring alignment with quality and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality‑related issues in facility and technology operations, providing technical support and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation for technology systems and facilities, ensuring readiness for audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Monitor and report on facility and technology performance metrics, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, supporting the preparation and review of facility and technology‑related quality systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, implementing enhancements to optimise facility and technology performance.
  • Conduct and lead routine Quality Oversight GEMBA activities with cross‑functional teams to proactively identify compliance risks, operational improvement opportunities, and drive sustainable corrective actions.
  • Assist in facility and technology‑related projects, ensuring compliance and alignment with site objectives.
Basic Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Practical knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with databases or Access is beneficial.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and strong organisational ability.
Preferred Qualification
  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Experience with enterprise systems such as SAP.
  • Previous experience supporting audits and managing audit responses.
  • Familiarity with facility engineering, maintenance or commissioning activities.
  • Experience working in cross‑functional teams across quality, engineering and operations.
  • Practical project coordination skills, including tracking actions and metrics.

This role full time on‑site and based in the United Kingdom at our Barnard Castle site. The advert will state the specific working arrangement for the vacancy.
