Job summary

Alkegen in the United Kingdom seeks a Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing team. You will carry out inspections, use measuring equipment, and document results to ensure conformance with specifications.

You will support with quality investigations and maintain control plans, while upholding safe working practices on the shop floor. The role requires GCSEs including Maths and English, basic reading of engineering drawings, and familiarity with quality systems such as IATF 16949 or ISO 9001.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing or automotive environments is required.
  • GCSEs including Maths and English are required.
  • Basic understanding of IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 quality systems is required.
  • Ability to use standard measuring equipment is required.
  • Ability to read basic engineering drawings is required.
  • Good attention to detail and clear communication is required.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office are required.

Responsibilities

  • Record inspection data accurately and maintain quality docs.
  • Identify non-conforming products and support shop-floor quality issues.
  • Support with investigations into quality problems and MSA activities.

Responsibilities


  • Promote a proactive safety culture by identifying hazards and ensuring all opportunities raised are driven to conclusion

  • Participate in site safety processes and leading indicators such as pre-task risk assessments to ensure safe working practices

  • Carry out part inspections in accordance with inspection standards and control plans when required

  • Carry out part inspections and tooling sign off using measuring equipment such as thickness gauges, scales, linear gauges as applicable

  • Complete inspection records accurately and maintain quality documentation.

  • Identify and segregate non-conforming products in line with company procedures.

  • Support production by responding to quality-related issues on the shop floor.

  • Perform routine product and process checks to verify compliance with specifications.

  • Assist with containment activities following customer or internal quality concerns.

  • Support with investigations into quality issues by collecting information and inspection data.

  • Support with activities related to Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)

  • Participate in internal audits and layered process audits as required

  • Responsible for the calibration/validation and disposition of measurement equipment

  • Ensure measuring equipment is handled correctly and report any calibration issues.

  • Follow Control Plans, work instructions and standard operating procedures

  • Assist in maintaining housekeeping standards within the quality department

  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities by identifying opportunities to improve quality and reduce waste


Qualifications / Experience


  • Experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment (Required)

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English

  • Basic understanding of IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 quality systems (Required)

  • Ability to use standard measuring equipment (Required)

  • Ability to read basic engineering drawings (Required)

  • Good attention to detail (Required)

  • Good communication and organisational skills (Required)

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Required)

  • Basic knowledge of automotive quality documentation, including Control Plans (Desired)

  • Internal audit experience (Desired)

  • Basic understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA or MSA (Desired)
