Job description

We are FBC UK, Fox's Burton's Companies! And we bake the UK's most incredible biscuits (we might be slightly biased, but we will leave that for you to judge).

FBC UK was a match made in heaven, with two of the top UK biscuits manufacturers (Burton's Biscuits and Fox's Biscuits) coming together to create one unique, integrated company.

We are home to famous iconic brands, including Maryland, Fox's, Jammie Dodger & Rocky, to name just a few. We are proud manufacturing partners to some of the biggest UK retailers and household names. We bake our incredible biscuits at eight bakeries across the UK, located at Isle of Arran, Livingston, Blackpool, Llantarnam, Edinburgh, Kirkham, Batley & Dorset and our HQ in St Pauls. Together, we employ circa 4,000 amazing colleagues across all our locations.

Whilst we know that we have delicious products we also know that that the key ingredient to our success is our people, and the passion we have for our brands. You could be the jammy to our dodger, party ring to our Fox’s or the choc-chip to our Maryland?! We knead people with innovative ideas, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the commitment to drive FBC UK to success.

We are committed to building an inclusive workforce that feels empowered to build a fulfilling and successful career. By embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) we create a supportive environment for people to thrive and strive to have more positive impact.

We understand that having formal and on-the-job learning opportunities is key to our colleagues’ professional and personal growth. We are committed to providing an environment where everyone can learn from each other and grow through a variety of learning experiences.

Our colleagues make our business special. With strong community values, we believe FBC UK is a more prosperous and fun place to work when people feel free to be themselves. We believe in the power of being authentic, entrepreneurial and supporting each other whilst meeting our business goals.

About the Role

As our Quality Systems Manager for our Llantarnam bakery, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness, compliance, and continuous improvement of the site's Quality Management System (QMS). You will be responsible for overseeing the control and integrity of quality documentation and records, ensuring they are maintained accurately, readily accessible, and compliant with regulatory, customer, and business requirements.

A key aspect of the role is driving and maintaining audit readiness across the site, ensuring robust quality systems, processes, and controls are in place to support successful external audits and inspections. Working collaboratively across functions, you will champion a culture of quality excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement, providing expert guidance and leadership on quality governance, systems, and best practices.

Main Responsibilities
Quality Management Systems & Compliance
  • Ensure the Site Quality Management System (QMS) remains current, effective, and compliant with Ferrero, FBC UK Group, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site quality standards, policies, procedures, and codes of practice in line with Group Quality System guidelines and customer expectations.
  • Cascade and embed quality processes, policies, and procedures across the site as defined by the FBC UK network.
  • Ensure all quality documentation and records are accurate, up to date, controlled, and readily accessible.
Food Safety & Quality Assurance
  • Lead the implementation and governance of sanitation, GMP, HACCP, and pest control programmes to maintain appropriate hygienic standards and ensure robust documentation is in place.
  • Oversee internal and external monitoring activities, ensuring the effective application of quality procedures and working instructions.
  • Validate product quality assessments, identify risks and opportunities, and drive corrective and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyse quality-related KPIs, ensuring robust action plans are developed, implemented, and reviewed for effectiveness.
  • Support and promote Food Safety & Quality culture programmes across the site.
Audits & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain site readiness for customer, regulatory, certification, and Group audits, providing support during all external audit activities.
  • Ensure the internal audit programme is effective, compliant with FBC UK standards, and delivers meaningful improvement outcomes.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives at site level to enhance quality performance, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Drive a culture of quality excellence through coaching, engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
Systems & Data Management
  • Maintain and optimise site quality data capture systems to ensure accurate reporting, trend analysis, and compliance monitoring.
  • Ensure quality data is effectively managed to support decision-making, performance reviews, and continuous improvement activities.
