Job summary

Fox's Burton's Companies (FBC) UK is recruiting a Hygiene Manager for the Blackpool Bakery. You will lead site hygiene activities to ensure facilities meet the highest standards and protect product quality.

You will manage the Hygiene Team, collaborate with Operations, oversee pest control, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring training and compliance across the site.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering high hygiene standards in FMCG environments.
• Proven ability to lead Hygiene Teams and collaborate with Operations.
• Strong knowledge of hygiene compliance, pest control, and training.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain cleaning schedules and documentation across the Bakery.
• Provide leadership and support to the Hygiene Team and Operations teams.
• Collaborate with Operations and Plant Planning to integrate hygiene processes into planning cycles.
• Define and oversee pest control activities to ensure sanitary conditions.
• Champion hygiene culture and drive continuous improvement across the Bakery.
• Stay up to date with hygiene techniques and advanced practices.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, customer requirements, and certification standards; deliver onboarding hygiene training.
• Build relationships with hygiene suppliers and contractors; set expectations.
• Lead improvements to cleaning methods, standards and efficiency.
• Manage the hygiene budget within the Technical Department.

About The Role

We’re excited to be recruiting a Hygiene Manager to join our fantastic team at the Blackpool Bakery. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead site hygiene activities to ensure our facilities consistently meet the highest standards and that the hygienic integrity of our plant supports the exceptional quality of all FBC products.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust cleaning schedules and documentation across the Bakery.
• Provide strong leadership, guidance, and support to the Hygiene Team and wider Operations teams.
• Collaborate closely with Operations and Plant Planning to ensure hygiene processes are effectively integrated into planning cycles.
• Define and oversee pest control activities to maintain safe, sanitary working conditions across the site.
• Champion and support initiatives that strengthen hygiene culture throughout the Bakery.
• Stay up to date with emerging hygiene and pest control techniques, identifying opportunities to enhance current practices.
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, customer requirements, partner codes of practice, and certification standards.Guarantee all employees receive appropriate hygiene training, including onboarding for new starters.
• Build strong relationships with hygiene suppliers and contractors, setting clear expectations and driving continuous improvement.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on elevating cleaning methods, standards, and efficiency across the Bakery.
• Manage the hygiene budget within the Technical Department, ensuring effective and responsible cost control.

Who We Are Looking For

• Demonstrated experience in a comparable Hygiene Manager role, ideally within an FMCG environment.
• IOSH qualification (or currently working towards it).
• Level 3 Food Safety qualification is desirable.
• A track record of consistently delivering and maintaining high hygiene standards across a site.
• Genuine passion for hygiene, food safety, and technical excellence.
• Experience collaborating with third-party service providers.
• Proven ability to work effectively with Health, Safety & Environment teams to ensure compliance, risk identification, assessment, and control.
• Strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
• Proactive, results-driven approach, with the ability to act quickly and deliver within tight timeframes.
• Self‑motivated, with the ability to work autonomously and take ownership.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Relationship‑driven, with strong communication skills and the confidence to work cross‑functionally.
• Flexibility with working hours and days to meet the needs of the business.
