Job summary

A leading UK biscuit manufacturer is seeking a Multi-Skilled Technician to join their Engineering Team. In this role, you will ensure effective engineering services while maintaining safety, quality, and hygiene standards. Responsibilities include planned maintenance, training others, and improving engineering systems. Candidates should have HNC qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering, strong maintenance skills, and preferably some experience in food manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Educated to HNC standard or higher in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Familiar with TPM principles including 5S.
  • Experience in food manufacturing is desirable.
  • CMMS experience preferred.
  • Food manufacturing experience and knowledge of Health & Safety / Food Hygiene desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the Engineering Team to ensure standards are met.
  • Carry out planned maintenance activities as scheduled.
  • Train others to perform their work duties effectively.
  • Continuously improve engineering systems to eradicate repeat failures.
  • Assist with KPI delivery in line with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with site functions to meet daily, weekly, monthly and annual targets.

About the Role

As a Multi-Skilled Technician you will be working as part of the Engineering Team to provide a timely and effective engineering service to our customer in production whilst ensuring safety, quality and hygiene standards are met.

You will carry out planned maintenance activities as scheduled by the maintenance plan contained within the CMMS, attend and repair breakdowns as required, and report all actions carried out and any further actions required.

Main Responsibilities
  • You will undertake training as required to further enhance individual’s skills and knowledge so that the level of support to the front line operations remains effective and efficient
  • Train others so that they are able to carry out their expected work duties to the required standards
  • Continuously improve engineering system to eradicate repeat failures
  • Continually develop our engineering services to maximize performance
  • Assist with the delivery of KPI’s in line with assigned business unit objectives (waste, TOS, efficiency, machine uptime)
  • Work in partnership with site functions to deliver daily, weekly, monthly, and annual targets
  • Support the creation of a positive working culture through clear and consistent thought processes
How to be successful in the role and at FBC
  • It is preferred that you will be educated to HNC standard (or equivalent) or higher in mechanical or electrical engineering and a proven practitioner of preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, problem solving and continuous improvement skills
  • You will also be familiar with TPM principles including 5S
  • Experience in the use of CMMS (computerised maintenance management systems) is preferred but not essential
  • You will be numerate, literate, flexible, self-motivated and be able to work with minimum supervision and use own initiative
  • Previous experience of working as part of a team is essential
  • Previous Food Manufacturing experience and a basic understanding of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene is desirable, but not essential as training will be given
