Job summary

Avara Foods Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Quality Systems Manager to champion factory compliance and demonstrate due diligence in food safety and quality at the Caistor site. You will lead the QA systems and audits, ensuring robust HACCP practices and regulatory alignment.

You will work within the office and a cold food production environment, partnering with production and quality teams. This role requires detailed auditing, risk assessment and effective stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

  • Must have degree in a science/food related field or equivalent.
  • Intermediate HACCP and Food Safety qualifications required.
  • Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day management and development of the site’s food safety, quality and regulatory systems.
  • Managing internal audit schedule and corrective actions.
  • Conducting risk assessments, audits and gap analyses with accurate reporting.
  • Managing site environmental, microbiology and chemical sampling programmes for compliance.
  • Maintaining HACCP systems and internal specifications.
  • Calibrating measurement devices used by quality and production teams.
  • Maintaining site document control and removal of superseded documents.
  • Participating in crisis plans for product recalls and investigations of customer complaints.

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to product quality across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Quality Systems Manager to join our Technical Team, based at our site in Caistor.

Purpose of the role:

As the Quality Systems Manager, you will champion factory compliance and allow us to demonstrate due diligence in respect of food safety and quality.

Operating Environment:

This role will be required to operate within the office and factory environment, which is a cold, food production environment.

Your key responsibilities as Quality Systems Manager will include:
  • Day to day management and development of the site’s food safety, quality and regulatory systems.
  • Controlling theinternal audit schedule and verifying completion of any corrective actions.
  • Conducting internal risk assessments, audits and gap analysis ensuring accurate recording and reporting of findings.
  • Managing site environmental, micro & chemical sampling programmes to maintain site compliance.
  • Ensuring internal specifications and HACCP systems are maintained.
  • Overall responsibility for the calibration of measurement devices used by the quality and production teams.
  • Maintaining site document control systems and removal of superseded documents.
  • Involvement in maintaining crisis plans for product recall / withdrawal and investigating customer complaints.

What we are looking for:

  • Relevant scientific or food related qualifications (Degree desirable).
  • A practical working knowledge of BRC, Red Tractor and retailer requirements.
  • Experience working with major retailers, including leading audits.
  • Intermediate HACCP and Food Safety qualifications as a minimum.
  • Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training.
  • Basic understanding of microbiology and potential consequences to food safety and quality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
Working Hours:

Monday – Friday 08:00 – 17:00. There will be some flexibility required during seasonal peaks.
