Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL in Nelson, Lancashire, seeks a Quality Manager / Chief Inspector to own quality processes in a precision engineering setting. You will oversee inspection, drive continuous improvement, and ensure components meet exacting customer specs and AS9100/ISO 9001 standards.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong problem-solving, and collaboration with production, customers and suppliers to maintain high-quality output and delivery performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in engineering or precision manufacturing.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Experience with manual inspection and precision measuring equipment.
• Hands-on quality management and problem-solving.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Good IT skills, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for quality assurance and inspection across the manufacturing operation.
• Oversee first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision components.
• Program and operate CMMs to ensure components meet specifications.
• Maintain quality management systems in line with AS9100 and ISO 9001.
• Prepare FAIRs, PPAP documentation and non-conformance reports.
• Coordinate internal, external and customer audits for compliance.
• Manage calibration systems, material traceability and quality documentation.
• Work with production to investigate issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding quality requirements and non-conformances.
• Ensure inspection schedules align with production and delivery needs.
