Job description

At Beagle Aircraft, we manufacture precision-engineered components and assemblies for demanding aerospace applications.

We’re looking for an experienced QMS Engineer to join our Quality team in Christchurch.

Reporting to the Head of Quality, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, developing and continuously improving our Quality Management System (QMS), supporting compliance with AS9100, applicable NADCAP requirements and customer-specific quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in Quality Systems, Quality Engineering or Auditing who enjoys working across a manufacturing business to improve processes, strengthen compliance and ensure corrective actions deliver lasting improvements.

The Role

You’ll work closely with Quality, Production, Engineering and other process owners, supporting the day-to-day effectiveness of the QMS and ensuring quality requirements are understood and consistently applied.

A key part of the role will be managing internal audit activity, supporting external certification and customer audits, maintaining controlled QMS documentation and ensuring audit findings and corrective actions are effectively managed through to closure.

What We Offer

  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Company pension
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Holiday Purchase Scheme
  • Long service awards
  • Free onsite parking
  • Early Finish Friday

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System in accordance with AS9100 and applicable customer requirements.
  • Maintain controlled quality procedures, processes, records and QMS documentation.
  • Plan and conduct internal process and system audits.
  • Support AS9100 certification, customer and applicable NADCAP audits.
  • Coordinate audit evidence and work with process owners to address findings.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions through to closure and verify their effectiveness.
  • Support structured root cause analysis for quality-system non-conformances.
  • Identify recurring audit or compliance issues and support improvement actions.
  • Provide practical guidance to teams on QMS procedures, document control and audit readiness.
  • Report on audit performance, corrective-action closure and emerging compliance risks.

About You

We’re looking for someone with practical QMS and auditing experience gained within a manufacturing environment.

You’ll ideally have:

  • At least two years’ experience in Quality Management Systems and/or auditing within manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and experience auditing against a recognised QMS standard.
  • Experience planning, conducting and documenting internal audits.
  • Experience identifying audit findings and managing corrective actions through to effective closure.
  • Strong understanding of document control and QMS record management.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple audits, actions and deadlines.
  • Confidence working cross-functionally with Production, Engineering and Quality teams.
  • A practical, continuous-improvement approach to quality and compliance.
  • Experience within aerospace manufacturing, supporting NADCAP accreditation/audits, or working with customer-specific aerospace quality requirements would be highly advantageous.
  • AS9100 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training/certification and experience using structured root cause techniques such as 8D or 5 Whys would also be beneficial.

Why Join Beagle Aircraft?

This is an opportunity to play an important role in the continued development of Quality within a specialist aerospace manufacturing environment.

You’ll have exposure across the wider manufacturing operation, working directly with process owners and supporting AS9100 compliance, internal and external audits, corrective actions, NADCAP requirements and continuous improvement.

Rather than simply maintaining documentation, you’ll have the opportunity to identify where processes can be strengthened and work with teams to make sustainable improvements.

If you’re currently working as a QMS Engineer, Quality Systems Engineer, Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor or AS9100 Auditor within manufacturing and are looking for your next opportunity in aerospace, we’d like to hear from you.
