Job description

At Beagle Aircraft, we manufacture precision-engineered components and assemblies for some of the world's leading aerospace programmes.

We're looking for an experienced Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer to join our Engineering team in Christchurch, supporting and improving the manufacture of aerospace components and assemblies.

We're particularly interested in someone with an aerospace manufacturing background, practical knowledge of sheet metal and/or fitting/assembly, and experience maintaining ERP/MRP routings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Please note this is a Fixed Term Contract for 4months but for the right individual they may be scope for a permanent role

The Role

Working closely with Production, Planning and Quality, you'll provide hands-on engineering support to the shop floor while developing and improving the processes used to manufacture our products.

You'll take ownership of manufacturing methods, routings, BOMs, operation timings and production documentation, while helping resolve production issues and support New Product Introduction.

This is a role for someone who understands how aerospace components are actually manufactured and can turn engineering requirements into practical, efficient production processes.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary
  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Company pension
  • Healthcare benefits
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Holiday Purchase Scheme
  • Birthday Leave
  • Long service awards
  • free onsite parking
  • Career development opportunities
What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide technical engineering support across sheet metal, fitting and assembly operations.
  • Create, review and update ERP/MRP routings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Develop and improve manufacturing methods, processes and production documentation.
  • Review operation sequences and timings to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and industrialisation of new components.
  • Read engineering drawings and translate requirements into practical manufacturing processes.
  • Work with Production and Quality to resolve manufacturing issues and reduce scrap and rework.
  • Support tooling, jig and fixture requirements and drive continuous improvement across production.
About You

For this position, you'll need:

  • Previous aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of sheet metal and/or fitting/assembly processes, either from an operator or engineering background.
  • Experience creating or updating ERP/MRP routings and BOMs.
  • Strong understanding of production/manufacturing engineering principles.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Practical manufacturing problem-solving and continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience with treatments/paint, welding, fabrication or composites would be a strong advantage but isn't essential.
  • An HNC/HND or higher engineering qualification would be beneficial, although relevant hands-on aerospace manufacturing experience will also be considered.
Why Join Beagle Aircraft?

This isn't a Production Engineering role that’s disconnected from manufacturing.

You'll work closely with the shop floor, using your engineering knowledge to solve production problems, improve manufacturing methods and ensure our routings, BOMs and processes accurately reflect how aerospace components are built.

You'll have the opportunity to influence NPI, process improvement, manufacturing efficiency and Right First Time performance within an established aerospace manufacturing business.

If you're a Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or experienced aerospace manufacturing professional with sheet metal/fitting and ERP/MRP experience, we'd love to hear from you
