Job summary

Meritus is recruiting a Quality Inspector to join their precision manufacturing team in Basildon. The role focuses on first-off, in-process and final inspections of aerospace and defence components, ensuring tight tolerances and high quality standards.

You will work on the shop floor with production teams, interpreting engineering drawings and using conventional metrology tools to verify dimensions and tolerances. A strong eye for detail and independent work style are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quality Inspector or Quality Technician.
• Strong understanding of precision machining inspection processes.
• Ability to confidently read and interpret third-angle engineering drawings.
• Experience using conventional metrology equipment.
• Comfortable working independently while supporting a wider production team.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspections of precision-machined components.
• Completing batch control and inspection sign-off activities.
• Reading and interpreting third-angle engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
• Using a range of conventional metrology equipment, including height gauges, micrometers, and other inspection tools.
• Working closely with production teams to resolve inspection-related queries.
• Maintaining high quality standards within aerospace and defence manufacturing.
• Identifying non-conformances and ensuring components meet specification before release.
