Job summary

Eaton in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to monitor and validate parts and assemblies, ensuring compliance with AS9100/AS9110 standards. You will perform in-process and final inspections, raise NCRs, and support calibration and supplier quality activities.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years experience working in an Inspection environment.
  • Ability to read and interrogate engineering drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Familiar with AS9102 FAIR requirements.
  • Good understanding of Quality Standards such as AS9100, AS9110, AS9102.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and validate quality of parts and assemblies across functions.
  • Ensure QMS compliance and drive improvements.
  • Inspect partially and fully completed assemblies per engineering requirements.
  • Conduct patrol inspections to verify drawings and process conformance.
  • Raise NCRs for non-conforming product at goods-in and support production QC.
  • Provide ad-hoc inspection/measurement support as needed.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to resolve queries.
  • Review supplier-generated FAI’s and update MRP/Visual FAIR systems accordingly.
  • Compile FAIRs for internal assembly work to prove conformity of process and product.
  • Support Supplier Quality Engineers and QA where needed.
  • Perform sample audits of Ship to Stock parts.
  • Assist internal Calibration programme for measurement equipment.

Job description

What you’ll do:
  • To monitor and validate the Quality of Parts and/or Assemblies and to provide specialist inspection capability across business functions..
  • Responsible for Quality Management System compliance and improvement.
  • Inspect partially and fully completed Assemblies to Engineering requirements.
  • Conduct Patrol Inspection of random stages to ensure compliance to drawing and process.
  • Raise NCRs for non conforming product detected at the goods-in stage and support production detected non conformities when required
  • Provide ad-hoc business support against specific demand for Inspection/measurement of product where required
  • Liaise with Manufacturing staff to help resolve queries when required
  • Review completed supplier generated FAI’s and Grade 1 part control plans and amend MRP and Visual FAIR systems accordingly
  • Compile FAIR’s for internal assembly work to provide evidence of conformity of process and product.
  • Support Supplier Quality Engineers and Quality Engineering where appropriate
  • Perform sample product audits of Ship to Stock parts
  • Support the internal Calibration programme for measurement equipment
  • Co-operate with management to meet the employer’s legal duties and take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions
Qualifications:

5-10 years experience working in an Inspection environment

Skills:
  • Familiar with general inspection techniques and their appropriate selection. Knowledge of assembly inspection would be an advantage.
  • Familiar with AS9102 FAIR requirements
  • Ability to read and interrogate engineering drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Able to manage the balance between Independence and willingness to re-assess when new data/information available.
  • Familiar with general non conformance processes
  • Ability to interact with Suppliers and Internal Customers
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office packages
  • Further competencies will be provided via the competency matrix, and linked to the relevant job level
