Job summary

Baltic Recruitment are partnering with Krystal Technology UK Ltd to recruit an experienced Quality Control Inspector. The role involves carrying out quality control activities to ensure products and processes meet internal standards and customer expectations, working closely with Production and the Quality team to support timely and accurate QC tasks.

The package includes a £32,000 per annum salary, pension and additional benefits, with a 24-7 shift pattern 5 days on 3 days off and potential

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in Quality Control or inspection, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and standards.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for quality information.
  • Numeracy skills to interpret measurements and inspection results.
  • Proficient IT skills including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience using Sage X3 or similar ERP is advantageous.
  • Counterbalance and Reach Forklift licences preferred but not essential.
  • Slinging/lifting equipment training would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and follow Health & Safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out Quality Control activities in line with H&S, ISO 9001 and internal procedures.
  • Complete in-process and final inspections to ensure specifications and customer requirements.
  • Prepare and drill samples for testing with proper identification and traceability.
  • Accurately record and communicate QC data using Sage X3, Excel and other systems.
  • Maintain QC records and report non-conforming products and deviations.
  • Support Production and other departments with QC queries and day-to-day quality issues.
  • Safely move products, including forklift operations where required.
  • Ensure QC tools, calibration and stock are maintained and available.
  • Contribute to KPIs and continuous improvement with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate across Quality, Production, Engineering, Maintenance and EHS.

Description

Baltic Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with Krystal Technology UK Ltd, a specialist manufacturer of high-purity fused quartz and fused silica components serving the semiconductor, photonics, industrial and scientific sectors, with their search for an experienced Quality Control Inspector.

Overall Purpose:

  • This role will carry out a range of inspection and quality control activities to support Production, Quality and EHS requirements, ensuring products and processes meet both internal standards and customer expectations.
  • Working closely with Production and the wider Quality team, you will complete quality control activities in a timely and accurate manner, provide support on quality-related matters and help ensure departmental targets are achieved.

Key Duties:

  • Carry out all Quality Control activities in accordance with Health, Safety, Environmental, 5S, ISO 9001 and internal company procedures.
  • Complete in-process and final inspections of manufactured products, ensuring compliance with specifications, customer requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Prepare and drill product samples for chemistry testing, ensuring accurate identification, handling and traceability throughout the process.
  • Accurately record, maintain and communicate Quality Control data using Sage X3, Excel and other approved systems, ensuring information is complete and available within required timescales.
  • Maintain excellent product traceability and accurate Quality Control records, including the identification and reporting of non-conforming products, quality concerns and process deviations.
  • Support Production and other departments with Quality Control queries, inspection requirements and day-to-day quality issues, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Safely handle and move products as required, including loading oven beds using forklifts, lifting equipment or slings.
  • Ensure Quality Control tools, equipment and consumables are available, fit for purpose and maintained appropriately, including calibration, repair, replacement and stock replenishment.
  • Contribute to departmental KPIs, Quality meetings and continuous improvement activities, identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and overall performance.
  • Work collaboratively across Quality, Production, Engineering, Maintenance and EHS, promoting high standards of Quality Control and best practice across the site.

Key Requirements:

  • Current Counterbalance and Reach Forklift Truck licences is preferred but not essential.
  • Slinging/lifting equipment training would be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a Quality Control or inspection role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately and consistently in accordance with established procedures, specifications and quality standards.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate quality-related information clearly to colleagues and other departments.
  • Good numeracy skills, with the ability to interpret measurements, data and inspection results accurately.
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience using Sage X3, or a similar ERP/business system, would be advantageous.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work towards departmental KPIs.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative while maintaining appropriate Health & Safety standards.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to learn new skills, support continuous improvement and assist with the training of others.

The Package:

  • £32,000 per annum.
  • 24-7 shift operation. 5 days on, 3 days off including weekend work. Three 6AM-2:30PM shifts, followed by two 2PM-10:30PM shifts on rotation. May be requirements for additional night shift in the future.
  • 31 shifts Holiday per annum, inclusive of bank holidays.
  • Salary sacrifice pension scheme.
  • Company bonus based on performance.
