Job summary

Steatite is seeking a Quality Inspector to uphold high standards across the manufacturing process. You will inspect products against customer and company specs, identify non-conformances, and drive continuous improvement with Production and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Proven quality inspection experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and electronics assembly processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specs.
  • Experience using measuring, test and inspection equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electronics.
  • Excellent attention to detail with methodical inspection.
  • Strong problem-solving and non-conformity reporting.
  • Good communication across departments.
  • IT skills including MS Office.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with calibration equipment.
  • Knowledge of internal auditing processes and quality standards.
  • Familiar with IPC Class 3 soldering/crimping standards.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out visual inspections throughout production and before dispatch.
  • Inspect components and assemblies against drawings and specs.
  • Conduct regular spot checks on Production Operatives' work.
  • Identify, record and report defects and non-conformances.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Provide feedback to improve quality and processes.
  • Use measuring and inspection equipment to verify conformity.
  • Maintain compliance with quality standards and procedures.
  • Provide cross-department support as needed.

The Role

Join Steatite as a Quality Inspector and help us maintain the high standards our customers expect.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail who takes pride in delivering quality and ensuring products meet the highest standards before they reach our customers.

Working closely with our Production and Engineering teams, you'll play a key role in maintaining product quality throughout the manufacturing process. You will inspect products against customer and company specifications, identify non-conformances and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that help us maintain our reputation for quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out visual inspections of products throughout and at the end of the manufacturing process prior to dispatch.
  • Inspect components and assemblies against engineering drawings, product specifications and work instructions.
  • Conduct regular spot checks on work completed by Production Operatives to ensure quality standards are consistently achieved.
  • Identify, record and report defects and non-conformances, maintaining accurate quality records.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions to prevent repeat issues.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve quality, efficiency and manufacturing processes.
  • Use measuring, test and inspection equipment to verify product conformity.
  • Maintain compliance with company quality standards, procedures and policies.
  • Provide support across the wider business as required, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative approach.
Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience within a Quality Inspector or similar quality role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, ideally within an electronics environment.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
  • Experience using measuring, test and inspection equipment.
  • A basic understanding of electronics.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and report non-conformances.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience within an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in a calibration environment or with calibration equipment.
  • Knowledge of internal auditing processes and quality standards.
  • Working knowledge of IPC Class 3 standards for soldering and crimping.
