Job summary

Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology in Bristol is seeking a Quality Improvement Engineer on a 6-month contract to enhance the Quality Management System and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain. You will partner with internal teams and suppliers to reduce defects and improve process quality.

Key duties include audits, corrective actions, data analysis, and Power BI reporting.

Qualifications

• ISO 9001:2015 experience and knowledge required.
• Experience maintaining Quality Management Systems.
• Internal auditing experience or qualification.
• Strong problem-solving using 8D, RCA and 5 Why.
• Supplier quality and corrective action experience.
• Experience supporting manufacturing environments.
• Strong MS Office and SharePoint skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (JDE E1).
• Excellent analytical and data interpretation abilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Power BI dashboard creation and reporting.
• Experience in semiconductor/high-technology manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of FAI/FAIR requirements and APQP tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve ISO 9001:2015 compliant Quality Management System.
• Support document control, process governance, and management review activities.
• Ensure quality processes are robust, effective, and audit-ready.
• Plan and conduct internal audits across processes and suppliers.
• Drive corrective actions through to completion and verification.
• Collaborate with suppliers to investigate issues and prevent recurrence.
• Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving techniques.
• Provide daily quality support to production teams.
• Support QA aspects of New Product Introductions and FAIRs.
