Job summary

Cranleigh STEM & Sustainability Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quality Manager for a precision engineering manufacturer. You will own the AS9100/ISO 9001 QMS, lead the inspection team and stay hands-on with inspection and metrology.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will drive audits, NCRs and CAPA while ensuring strong quality across production, customers and suppliers. This role combines leadership with practical metrology work.

Qualifications

• Experience leading quality functions in precision engineering/manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T and weld symbols.
• Strong dimensional inspection and metrology experience including CMM operation/programming.
• Experience handling non-conformances and using RCA/8D techniques.
• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.
• Relevant engineering/technical/management qualification or apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Own, maintain and continually improve the AS9100 / ISO 9001 QMS.
• Plan and support internal, customer and supplier audits.
• Manage NCRs, concessions, corrective actions and customer 8D reports.
• Lead and develop the Quality and Inspection team.
• Drive Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement activities.
• Manage calibration and support supplier quality and approval activities.
• Carry out dimensional inspection of precision-engineered components.
• Operate and programme fixed and portable CMM equipment.
• Lead First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and associated documentation.
• Monitor quality performance and promote a strong quality culture across the business.
