Job summary

ZF Lemforder UK Limited in Darlaston is seeking a Quality Engineer - QMS to drive the implementation, maintenance, and effectiveness of quality processes across the site, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and customer CSRs.

You will lead internal and external audits, manage document control, and support continuous improvement through problem-solving tools, with strong collaboration across Quality, Engineering, Projects and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• Minimum HND in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in Tier 1 Automotive supply chain.
• 1st & 2nd Party Auditor certification is beneficial.
• Deep understanding of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA and customer requirements.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and problem-solving methods (8D/PPS/DMAIC).
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proficient computer literacy including MS Office and SAP QM knowledge.
• Willingness to travel for short periods as necessary.
• Ability to handle difficult situations and resolve conflicts quickly.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Management Review process according to ISO 9001/IATF 16949.
• Drive compliance with quality management systems standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA) and customer requirements.
• Lead external and internal quality management system audits and customer requirements.
• Oversee documentation control of QMS documents and processes.
• Lead internal audits and drive closure of non-conformities.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Projects, R&D, Materials & Logistics and suppliers.

About the Team

You will join the Quality Management team, a collaborative group of 13 colleagues with strong product and process expertise, supporting high quality new product introductions. The team works closely with cross-functional partners including Quality, Engineering, Projects, R&D, Materials & Logistics, Human Resources, the Head of Plant, Purchasing, IT, and HS&E, while also maintaining regular interaction with customer and supplier representatives. The current portfolio includes control arms for key customers such as JLR and BMW. Day-to-day activities involve close alignment with the Head of Quality, including daily reviews of project status to identify and address potential roadblocks, as well as responsibilities in internal audits and documentation control.

The purpose of this position is to drive Quality Processes implementation, maintenance, effectiveness, and efficiency, while ensuring compliance with ISO, IATF, VDA standards and customer-specific requirements (CSRs), as well as strengthening risk control and mitigation across all relevant operations.

• Lead the Management Review process according to ISO 9001/IATF 16949 standard
• Drive compliance with quality management systems standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA, etc.) and customer specific requirements and lead compliance with customer quality certifications (e.g.: JLR MSA, Ford MSA, BMW Requalification of product and processes, etc.)
• Lead 3rd Party Certification of quality management system standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA, etc.)
• Driving business processes identification, standardization and optimization. Work as liaison with other support processes
• Lead External and Internal quality management system and process audit management (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA, LPA, etc.) and customer specific requirements
• Responsible of document control of quality management system document/processes
• Lead internal Audit process & Drive closure of non-conformities raised

Your profile as Quality Engineer - QMS:

• Minimum HND in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in Tier 1 Automotive supply chain; 1st & 2nd Party Auditor certification beneficial
• Deep understanding of Operations and Quality including deep knowledge and understanding of quality management system standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA, etc.) and customer specific requirements
• Understanding and application of Quality Tools and Techniques (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC) as well as deep understanding of problem-solving Techniques (8D/PPS/DMAIC)
• Structured, organised and self-motivated team player
• Computer literacy: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Minitab, IQ-RM; SAP Knowledge (QM module)
• Willingness to travel on company business for short periods as necessary
• Ability to deal with difficult situations and resolve conflict quickly.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
