Job summary

Unknown is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer in Plymouth to strengthen the quality function within a large manufacturing group. You will apply tools such as 8D, FMEA, PPAP and SPC to improve processes and lead audits for continuous improvement.

The role involves data analysis, root cause investigations and initiating corrective actions, plus supporting NPIs and working with cross-functional teams, suppliers and customers to ensure robust quality performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of BTEC – Ideally a HNC in Engineering/Science
• Experience of Quality Tools (8D, FMEA's, PPAP and SPC)
• Computer Literate & Excellent communication skills
• Ideally Lean trained
• Experience within a Precision Engineering environment
• Minium of ISO9001 – Ideally 14001 & 45001 Audit experience
• Ideally have working Lean knowledge within Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

• Actively support the implementation, maintenance, performance and improvements of the quality management system using appropriate quality tools and techniques.
• Provide training and support to overcome barriers to quality improvement.
• Work independently and as part of a team on quality engineering activities.
• Identify performance trends and non-conformances through data gathering, analysis, monitoring and auditing.
• Work in line with Quality, Safety & environmental policies and instructions.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Make decisions, stop production when needed, drive containment actions and implement corrective/preventative measures for defect management.
• Carry out audits, inspections, measurements and tests timely and effectively.
• Propose robust, cost-effective quality improvements and evaluate new technologies and tools.
• Develop relationships across departments, suppliers and customers.
• Control process control and monitor customer performance.
• Process data, trends and issues and report findings.
• Support APQP and NPI projects with information gathering and feedback.
• Support Customer PAPP processes.
• Document information and maintain records.
• Conduct internal process and system audits.
