Job summary

McLaren Automotive Ltd is seeking a Quality Engineer to join the Complex Analysis team. You will lead investigations into complex issues across vehicle lifecycles, identify root causes and implement solutions, driving continuous improvement.

You will collaborate across functions, apply structured problem-solving and present findings to stakeholders while coaching others in best practice.

Qualifications

  • Structured problem-solving in engineering/manufacturing settings.
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Motorsport or equivalent.
  • Experience using CAD and interpreting drawings.
  • Strong analytical skills with Excel and Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations into complex product and manufacturing issues.
  • Apply structured problem-solving to define, analyse and resolve concerns.
  • Develop containment actions to minimise impact.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis using methods such as 5-Why with testing and evidence.
  • Present findings to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Act as SME in problem-solving and coach colleagues.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through complex investigations and resolutions.

What to Expect

As a Quality Engineer, you'll join our Complex Analysis team, a centre of excellence for problem-solving, leading investigations into complex issues that arise throughout the lifecycle of our vehicles. Working across a wide range of functions, you'll play a key role in identifying root causes, implementing solutions and driving continuous improvement.

What You'll Do
  • Lead investigations into complex product and manufacturing issues.
  • Apply structured problem-solving tools to define, analyse and resolve concerns.
  • Develop and implement effective containment actions to minimise customer and business impact.
  • Conduct root cause analysis using techniques such as 5-Why, supported by testing, analysis and evidence.
  • Present findings and progress updates to stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in problem-solving, coaching colleagues and promoting best practice.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through complex technical investigations and resolution activities.
What You'll Bring
  • Experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • An engineering degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience using CAD software and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical skills, with confidence using Excel and Power BI to interpret complex data.
  • The ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and confidently challenge assumptions where needed.
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to present technical findings to a range of audiences.
  • A proactive mindset, a passion for problem-solving and the ability to thrive under pressure.
