Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a Quality Engineer to accelerate quality improvements across the car lifecycle. You will support design, manufacture, assembly and testing at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, with travel to suppliers and test facilities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in production or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Extensive quality engineering experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
  • Knowledge of carbon fibre and metallic manufacturing processes; metrology basics.
  • Strong problem solving and auditing skills; familiarity with FMEA.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve non-conformances to support production.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, inspection and assembly teams.
  • Work with suppliers to assess capability and promote quality principles.
  • Lead problem solving and containment for quality concerns and failures.
  • Create inspection procedures and support work instruction auditing.

Job description

Reliability is essential to our championship-winning ambitions. As a Quality Engineer, you will help accelerate quality and performance improvements throughout the car's lifecycle, supporting design, manufacture, component assembly and testing.

Working with design engineering, manufacturing, inspection teams and our supply chain, you will apply quality engineering expertise across a wide range of components and manufacturing techniques. Based at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, the role will also involve travel to suppliers and test facilities.

What You'll Do
  • Manage and resolve non-conformances, supporting efficient production and driving a right-first-time approach.
  • Partner with design, manufacturing, inspection and assembly teams to solve quality issues and capture learning that improves future designs and processes.
  • Work with suppliers to assess capability, promote best-practice quality principles and ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability.
  • Lead structured problem-solving and containment activities for quality concerns, component failures and trackside car faults, reporting concerns to the appropriate stakeholders and driving resolution.
  • Create and deploy inspection control procedures, while supporting the development and auditing of operational work instructions and check sheets.

Qualifications
What You'll Bring
  • Extensive quality engineering experience, supported by a degree in production engineering, mechanical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and auditing skills, with knowledge of FMEA, process mapping and structured quality improvement techniques.
  • A Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of carbon fibre and metallic manufacturing processes, together with a thorough understanding of metrology techniques and terminology.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
