Job summary

Laing O'Rourke, on the Sizewell C project, seeks a Quality Engineer to support Transverse Manufacturing with site-based quality oversight, audits and documentation control. You will ensure compliance with Sizewell C requirements and regulatory standards across the civil works scope.

You will work closely with construction teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to implement quality plans, manage ITPs, and drive continuous improvement in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or Science, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience working on construction or major infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and QA processes.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification (or working towards).
  • Strong attention to detail with a structured, process-driven approach.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Proactive, pragmatic and solutions-focused, with the ability to manage priorities independently.
  • Experience within highly regulated environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery and implementation of quality plans, procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and templates in line with project and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with the deployment and governance of the project Quality Management System across delivery teams and supply chain partners
  • Carry out internal audits, supporting audit planning, reporting and close‑out of corrective actions
  • Undertake site inspections and surveillance to verify works comply with specifications, drawings, method statements and ITPs
  • Review and maintain inspection records, material traceability and quality documentation in line with project requirements
  • Support non‑conformance management, including investigation, corrective actions and verification of close‑out
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, quality performance reporting and trend analysis
  • Support readiness reviews, handover activities and external audits including ISO 9001 and regulatory assurance

The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Engineer to support the successful delivery of the Transverse Manufacturing scope on the Sizewell C Project.

CWA, appointed by the Sizewell C client, brings together three leading delivery contractors — Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty — to deliver the civils scope including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling

We are recruiting a Quality Engineer to support the delivery of the Sizewell C project in Suffolk-one of the UK's largest and most complex nuclear new-build programmes. The role sits within the CWA Quality function and plays a key part in assuring that civil construction activities are planned, executed and verified in full compliance with Sizewell C requirements, regulatory expectations and relevant legislation. Working closely with construction teams, subcontractors and stakeholders, the QA/QC Engineer will provide site-based quality oversight, support audits and inspections, manage quality documentation and contribute to progressive assurance, readiness reviews and continuous improvement across the works

Key Responsibilities
