Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking a Quality Engineer in Plymouth to implement and maintain the QMS, investigate defects and drive continuous improvement. You will monitor SPC data, collaborate across Production, Engineering, Suppliers and Customers, and support audits and NPI activities.

Ideal candidates will have 3+ years with core quality tools (8D, FMEA, MSA, PPAP, SPC), a technical engineering qualification such as a BTEC, and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience using core quality tools including 8D, FMEA, MSA, PPAP and SPC.
• Experience in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment focusing on production quality and CI initiatives.
• BTEC (or equivalent) in Engineering, Manufacturing or Science, or at least 3 years' quality engineering experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and robust corrective actions.
• Experience conducting internal quality audits and supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or AS9100 (desirable).
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles; Green Belt or Black Belt is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the QMS using established quality tools.
• Investigate quality issues through data analysis, audits and CAPA.
• Monitor process performance using SPC, dimensional data and quality metrics; provide feedback to production and stakeholders.
• Conduct internal process and system audits, support customer and certification audits, ensure document control.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Suppliers and Customers to resolve quality concerns; reduce scrap and improve performance.
• Support NPI, process control activities and shop floor quality training to drive quality and continuous improvement.

Quality Engineer – Plymouth • Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 • Hours: Monday - Thursday 08:15 - 16:45; Friday 08:15 - 13:45

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) using established quality engineering tools and techniques.
• Investigate quality issues through data analysis, audits and root cause investigations, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Monitor process performance using SPC, dimensional data and quality metrics, providing timely feedback to production and key stakeholders.
• Conduct internal process and system audits, support external customer and certification audits, and ensure document control compliance.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Suppliers and Customers to resolve quality concerns, reduce scrap and improve manufacturing performance.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI), process control activities and shop floor quality training to drive product quality and continuous improvement.

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience using core quality tools including 8D, FMEA, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), PPAP and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Experience working within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment, supporting production quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
• BTEC (or equivalent) qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing or Science, or at least 3 years' relevant quality engineering experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience of root cause analysis, data interpretation and implementing robust corrective actions.
• Experience conducting internal quality audits and supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or AS9100 quality management systems (desirable).
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, with Green Belt or Black Belt certification considered advantageous.
