Job summary

SoCode Limited seeks a Quality Engineer to join the Cambridge team on-site. You will own quality programmes across a cleanroom manufacturing environment, driving improvements, data analysis, and root-cause resolution to deliver world-class products.

The role focuses on lean manufacturing, supplier and process control, and compliance with ISO9001/ISO27001. Strong hands-on capabilities and a proactive mindset are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and health & safety awareness.
  • Internal Auditor Certification (ISO9001/ISO27001).
  • Knowledge of RoHS, REACH and SCIP.
  • RCCA with 8D, FMEA.
  • Statistical data analysis with Minitab/JMP.
  • Hands-on, practical process implementation.
  • Liaise across disciplines and propose improvements.
  • Excel and MES data entry familiarity.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and drive improvements to build world-class products in Lean manufacturing.
  • Lead assembly, inspection and test of micro-component activities in a cleanroom.
  • Analyze data of precision parts to support concept/prototyping; pass/fail decisions.
  • Perform rework and reporting per work instructions for development projects.
  • Develop manufacturing standards and documentation.
  • Manage quality systems including change control, non-conformance, and software releases.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits (ISO9001/ISO27001) and track KPIs.
  • Present metrics and improvement proposals to leadership.
  • Engage in Product and Process projects to drive Lean Quality Manufacturing.

Quality Engineer

Cambridge | On-site (5 days)

Are you detail-driven with a background in quality engineering, and passionate about building world-class products right? Do you enjoy getting hands-on with precision manufacturing, driving root cause analysis, and leading process improvements from the ground up?

We're supporting an innovative technology company operating in the defence, space and transportation sectors, currently going through a period of strong growth. They're looking for a technically sound Quality Engineer to join their Cambridge team, taking ownership of programmes that maintain and improve quality across a cleanroom manufacturing environment.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Taking responsibility for programmes that maintain and drive improvements to build world-class products, within a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Leading assembly, inspection and test of micro-component activities in a cleanroom environment, covering incoming materials, parts and work-in-progress assemblies.
  • Carrying out data analysis of precision manufactured parts to support concept and prototype development, determining pass/fail/rework decisions.
  • Carrying out rework, modifications and reporting in line with approved work instructions, in support of development and NPI projects.
  • Driving the development and creation of manufacturing standards and associated documentation.
  • Managing quality systems in support of the Corporate and Internal Quality Management System, including change control (PCR, DCR, concessions, mod levels, SwBRT), non-conformance handling and software release.
  • Planning and conducting internal audits (ISO9001, ISO27001) and managing KPIs and PIs.
  • Presenting metrics, project progress and improvement proposals at all levels of the business.
  • Engaging in key Product and Process projects to drive a Lean Quality Manufacturing culture.
The ideal candidate will a selection of the below:
  • Strong attention to detail and awareness of Health & Safety practices.
  • Internal Auditor Certification (ISO9001 and/or ISO27001)
  • Knowledge of legislative standards including RoHS, REACH and SCIP.
  • Proven experience with RCCA and problem-solving tools such as 8D methodology and FMEA.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and tools such as Minitab or JMP.
  • Strong practical, hands‑on skills, with the ability to understand and implement processes.
  • Confident interpreting engineering proposals and liaising across disciplines.
  • Comfortable working efficiently with minimal supervision, while contributing ideas to improve process times, quality and yield.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and/or MES systems for data entry.
