Job summary

Workforce Staffing is seeking a proactive Quality Engineer in Oldbury to join a leading UK manufacturer. You will work with manufacturing, engineering and logistics teams to resolve issues and drive continual improvement.

You will help maintain QMS compliance (ISO 9001, UL, ATEX), lead corrective actions, and support product release with robust inspection, testing and documentation processes. A strong emphasis on problem solving and cross-functional collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

  • BS EN ISO 9001 knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Quality Engineering role or equivalent.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, assembly or similar technical environment.
  • Experience investigating customer complaints and internal non-conformances.
  • Proven root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone).
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, specs and inspection standards.
  • Understanding of inspection, testing, first-off approval and product release.
  • Experience with PPAP, FAI, Control Plans, PF diagrams and FMEA.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the QMS (ISO 9001, UL, ATEX) and satisfy cert requirements.
  • Coordinate containment, corrective and preventive actions; ensure timely closure.
  • Lead investigations into customer complaints and non-conformances using structured methods.
  • Provide hands-on quality support to Production, Assembly and Engineering teams.
  • Support attainment of quality objectives and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Support testing, traceability checks, product validation and release activities.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation (work instructions, control plans, CTQs, PPAP).
  • Assist internal and external audits and follow up on findings.
  • Monitor quality KPIs and drive RCAs and defect reduction.

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Working Hours: Mon - Thurs 8:30am-4:30pm Fri 8.30 till 4.00pm

Annual Leave: 25 days + Statiotry

The Opportunity

We are looking for a proactive, hands-on Quality Engineer who enjoys working closely with manufacturing, engineering, logistics and technical teams to solve quality issues, investigate customer concerns and drive continual improvement.

You will play a key role in maintaining and developing our Quality Management System, supporting ISO 9001, UL and ATEX requirements, improving Right First Time (RFT) performance and ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the maintenance, implementation and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, UL, ATEX, customer and certification requirements.
  • Coordinate containment, corrective and preventive actions, ensuring actions are completed effectively, verified for effectiveness and closed within agreed timescales.
  • Lead and support investigations into customer complaints, internal non-conformances and process failures using structured problem-solving techniques including 8D, 5 Why and Fishbone Analysis.
  • Provide hands-on quality engineering support to Production, Assembly, Warehouse, Technical and Engineering teams.
  • Support the Quality Lead in delivering quality objectives, standards and continual improvement initiatives.
  • Support first-off, in-process and final inspection activities, product validation, testing, traceability checks and product release.
  • Prepare, review and maintain quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, control plans, inspection records, Certificates of Conformity, Material Test Certificates, PPAP, FAI and customer quality packs.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external and customer audits, raising findings and following up corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report quality performance through KPIs, trend analysis and improvement activities.
  • Support initiatives to reduce defects, repeat issues, customer complaints and Cost of Poor Quality.
  • Conduct product testing and evaluation to verify conformance against applicable specifications, standards and customer requirements.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • BS EN ISO 9001 knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Quality Engineering role or equivalent.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, assembly, fabrication, cable management, electrical, construction products or similar technical environment.
  • Experience investigating customer complaints and internal non-conformances.
  • Practical understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies, including 8D, 5 Why and Fishbone Analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection standards and technical requirements.
  • Good understanding of inspection, testing, first-off approval, process control and product release.
  • Experience with PPAP, FAI, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams and FMEA.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident working with cross-functional teams and challenging non-conforming practices professionally.
  • Ability to work independently, make evidence-based decisions and escalation issues appropriately.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Business or a related field.
Desirable
  • Experience with UL and ATEX requirements.
  • Product and industry knowledge within OEM markets.
  • Experience working directly with OEM customers and key stakeholders.
  • Commercial or business development experience within industrial markets.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience supporting sales growth within key accounts and industrial markets.
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationally when required.
