Job summary

SEA Ltd in Barnstaple is seeking a Quality Engineer to provide independent Quality and Product Assurance support. You will oversee audits, ensure quality across supplier interactions and participate in regulatory and customer audits.

The role is based at the Barnstaple site with flexible working. Salary up to £44k depending on experience, and opportunities to drive continuous improvement in defence-related manufacturing.

  • Previous experience within a similar role.
  • Experience of ISO 9001 & AS 9100.
  • Experience conducting audits.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical experience of Continuous Improvement techniques and problem solving.
  • Strong Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Audit internal processes, projects, and suppliers against the Business Management System, AS9100 and defence requirements.
  • Attend and contribute to project gate reviews, ensuring quality requirements, risks and deliverables are assessed and controlled.
  • Conduct supplier audits and manage supplier-related risks, non-conformances and concessions to closure.
  • Oversee root cause analysis and corrective actions for robust solutions.
  • Verify supplier First Article Inspection (FAI) per AS9102 with documentation.
  • Support incoming inspection and validate supplier certification, traceability and conformity evidence.
  • Manage audit findings and quality actions with timely closure and audit readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement across functions and supplier base to reduce risk and improve first-time quality.
  • Provide quality support to engineering, procurement, programmes and operations.
  • Participate in customer, regulatory and third-party audits for compliance.

About The Role

Quality Engineer will be based at our Barnstaple site. This role allows for flexible working.

The salary for this role is up to £44k, depending on experience.

  • Audit internal processes, projects, and suppliers against the Business Management System, AS9100, and defence-specific requirements
  • Attend and contribute to project gate reviews, ensuring quality requirements, risks, and deliverables are effectively assessed and controlled at each stage of the lifecycle including flow-down of requirements to the supply chain
  • Conduct supplier audits and manage supplier-related risks, non-conformances, and concessions to effective closure where required
  • Oversee root cause analysis and corrective actions, ensuring robust and sustainable solutions
  • Verify supplier First Article Inspection (FAI) in line with AS9102 and ensure full documentation compliance where required
  • Support incoming inspection and validate supplier certification, traceability, and conformity evidence
  • Manage audit findings and quality actions, ensuring timely closure and audit readiness
  • Drive continuous improvement across internal functions and the supplier base, focusing on risk reduction and right-first-time delivery
  • Provide quality support to engineering, procurement, programmes, and operations
  • Participate in customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, ensuring full compliance and preparedness
