Job summary

Office Angels is seeking a Quality Control Technician to provide hands-on quality control support across goods-inwards and production activities. You will ensure purchased components and manufactured products meet defined quality standards and report non-conforming products to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include inspecting goods, maintaining records, supporting audits, and working with production to reduce defects.

Qualifications

  • Experience in quality control, inspection or manufacturing support.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using measuring equipment (verniers, multi-meters, etc.).
  • Understanding of non-conformance control and corrective action processes.
  • Work within ISO 9001/ISO 14001 frameworks in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with electrical or electromechanical products desirable.
  • Proficiency with Word/Excel for inspection records and data analysis.
  • ERP/MRP experience desirable.
  • Familiarity with internal and supplier audits desirable.

  • Maintain accurate, traceable inspection records for audits and KPIs.
  • Identify non-conforming product, raise NCRs and support investigations and corrective actions.
  • Carry out routine and ad hoc in-process inspections on the shop floor.
  • Support root cause analysis with inspection evidence and data.
  • Assist with internal and supplier audits under Quality Assurance leadership.
  • Use measuring tools correctly within calibration controls.

Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Location: Wellington

Salary: £30 - £35K PA DOE

Hours: 8am - 4.15pm (Monday-Thursday) 8am-3pm (Friday)

Role Overview

Provide hands-on quality control support across goods-inward inspection and production activities, ensuring purchased components and manufactured products meet defined quality standards. Identify, control, and effectively report any non-conforming products to maintain compliance and drive continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support goods inwards inspection of purchased components, materials, and assemblies against drawings, specifications, purchase order requirements, and applicable ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 controls.
  • Prioritise inspection activities based on risk, product criticality, compliance impact, and production requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, traceable inspection and quality records, and provide relevant data to support reporting, audits, and KPIs.
  • Identify and control non-conforming product, raise factual non-conformance reports, and support investigation, corrective action, and closure.
  • Carry out routine and ad hoc in-process inspections, maintaining a visible quality presence on the shop floor and working proactively with production personnel.
  • Support root cause analysis activities by providing inspection evidence and structured input.
  • Carry out internal and supplier audits as required to support the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Use measuring equipment such as verniers, multi-meters, and other inspection tools correctly and within calibration controls where applicable.
  • Identify recurring issues, trends, and risks, and contribute to improvement activities to reduce defects, rework, waste, and compliance risks.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in a quality control, inspection, or manufacturing support role, including goods inwards and/or in-process inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, multi-meters, and other basic inspection tools.
  • Understanding of non-conformance control, corrective action, and concession processes.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements and the ability to operate effectively within structured management systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of working within manufacturing or assembly processes involving electrical or electromechanical products.
  • Competent use of Microsoft Word and Excel for inspection records, reporting, and basic data analysis.
  • Experience of working with ERP/MRP systems desirable.
  • Understanding of basic audit principles; experience of carrying out or supporting internal and supplier audits desirable.
  • Formal IPC-610 / IPC-620 certification or equivalent practical experience desirable.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • High attention to detail with a structured, practical, and evidence-based approach.
  • Clear and professional communicator, confident in identifying, documenting, and challenging quality issues.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a manufacturing quality environment.
