Job summary

Technique-Recruitment Solutions Ltd is recruiting a Quality Control Technician to join the client’s Engineering Quality Department in Norwich. You will inspect components to meet design requirements and support quality processes across incoming, in-process, and final inspections.

The role is a 2–3 month contract with a current hourly rate of £13.73 per hour, working 37.5 hours per week. You should have experience in quality control, calibration of measuring tools, and reading engineering

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Quality Control role.
  • Able to calibrate measuring instruments.
  • Reading engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect supplier and in-house components to meet design requirements.
  • Record and report inspection results.
  • Carry out dimensional checks, calibration, and data logging.
  • Support safety procedures and maintain calibration records.
  • Coordinate with line manager on quality issues.

Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Duration: TBC, but most likely 2-3 months.


Hourly Rate: £13.73 p/hr


Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Thu 7:45-16:30 with unpaid lunch break 12:30-13:00; Fri 7:45-12:15)

Job Role Summary:

To take an active role within our clients Engineering Quality Department, ensuring product components are inspected to meet design requirements.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Take an active role within the Quality Department, ensuring all activities undertaken are done so accurately and in a timely manner

  • Undertake inspection of purchased goods at the supplier’s premises in Norwich and at the point of receipt, completing appropriate paperwork / reports as necessary.

  • Undertake inspection of in-house manufactured components, completing appropriate paperwork / reports as necessary

  • Undertake inspection during build, on final assembly or on returned machines, completing appropriate paperwork / reports as necessary

  • Undertake dimensional checks for investigative purposes, completing appropriate paperwork / reports as necessary

  • Undertake the calibration of measuring instrumentation (e.g. micrometres, verniers, pressure gauges)

  • Maintain calibration records and procedures

  • Ensuring and reporting the temperature control of the Standards room

  • Carry out other tasks as may be reasonably requested by Line Manager, that are within the role holders ability

  • Follow all safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.


Education / Qualification Requirements:


  • BTEC Level 3 in an Engineering discipline ideally.


Experience and Knowledge Requirements:

Essential:


  • Experience working in a Quality Control role

  • Use and programming of the company CMM (Co-Ordinate Measuring Machine)

  • Knowledge and understanding of calibration methods for mechanical tooling

  • Reading of engineering drawings and use of all measuring equipment

  • Use of company IT systems

  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment

  • Highly self-motivated with a genuine desire to succeed and help move the business forward

  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experienced user of Inspection Equipment (e.g. - Internal & External Micrometres, Depth gauges, Verniers - up to 1.5 Metre length measurements

  • Ability to use Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)

  • Attention to detail and analytical skills

  • Ability to work to and achieve challenging deadlines

  • Confident with Microsoft Office packages

  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills

  • Team player


Desirable:


  • Writing and manipulating information in databases
