The Kindle Ingestion and Expansion (KIX) team enables independent authors, content creators, and publishers to publish their content as eBooks for distribution to the Kindle Store, Kindle Unlimited, and the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library; as well as in print formats for sale on Amazon’s global marketplaces, bookstores, and other online retailers using Amazon’s state-of-the-art Print on Demand (POD) technology. KIX is a vital part of Amazon’s vision to provide its Kindle and print book customers with the world’s largest selection in their preferred format – eBook or paperback.

Work involves manual and automation testing for innovative applications and products at the user level. Candidates should be proficient in black box and automation testing, understand functionality, execute test cases accurately, and meet deadlines. Coding skills in scripting languages like Python, Java, Perl, or shell scripting are required. Ability to report results clearly is essential.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Execute assigned test cases and maintain black box test cases with guidance.
2. Analyze ambiguous tasks or new features to create clear work instructions, facilitating smooth testing processes.
3. Install, configure, and debug software; gather logs and traces to support bug reports.
4. Provide feedback on automation needs, execute and verify automated tests, and manage lab infrastructure.
5. Understand automation frameworks to initiate and manage automation runs according to schedules and SLAs.
6. Reproduce product issues, assist in defect reporting with detailed steps, logs, and descriptions, and verify bug fixes.
7. Perform defect analysis, prioritize issues, and provide feedback on test coverage and quality.
8. Analyze automation failures, isolate script or product failures, and report issues.
9. Develop simple tools/utilities to improve key metrics like productivity, defect leakage, and test quality, and enhance stakeholder communication.
