Job summary

Ampstek is seeking an experienced AI-enabled Payments Test Automation Engineer to design, develop, and execute automated tests across complex payment platforms. You will leverage AI-driven testing to boost quality, efficiency, and release confidence.

The role requires strong expertise in test automation, payments knowledge, JavaScript-based frameworks, and modern testing methodologies, with exposure to SEPA/BACS/SWIFT/ISO 20022 and multi-currency transactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience designing and executing automated tests for front-end and back-end systems.
• Strong knowledge of payments testing and AI-powered testing approaches.
• Proficiency with JavaScript, Selenium, Cucumber and CI/CD integration.
• Experience with SEPA, BACS, SWIFT, ISO 20022 or multi-currency payments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for frontend and backend applications.
• Design comprehensive test strategies and test cases for complex payment platforms.
• Build AI-assisted test automation to improve coverage, defect prediction, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with development teams to establish testing standards and quality gates.
• Create and run complex test scenarios using Cucumber; maintain reusable frameworks with Selenium and JavaScript.
• Participate in SIT and UAT with distributed global teams; support release validation and sign-off.
• Identify, analyze, and track defects across the SDLC and ensure payment workflow validation.
• Ensure compliance with banking and payment messaging formats.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced AI-Enabled Payments Test Automation Engineer to join a high-performing payments technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated test solutions across complex payment platforms while leveraging AI-driven testing practices to improve quality, efficiency, and release confidence.

The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in test automation, payments domain knowledge, JavaScript-based automation frameworks, and modern software testing methodologies, with experience testing payment systems supporting SEPA, BACS, SWIFT, ISO 20022, and multi-currency transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand platform architecture and design comprehensive test strategies and test cases.
• Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for both frontend and backend applications.
• Build AI-assisted test automation solutions to improve test coverage, defect prediction, and execution efficiency.
• Collaborate with development teams to establish testing standards, quality gates, and best practices.
• Create and execute complex test scenarios using BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
• Develop and maintain reusable automation frameworks using Selenium, Cucumber, and JavaScript.
• Participate in SIT and UAT phases while coordinating with distributed global teams.
• Act as the primary point of contact during release validation and sign-off activities.
• Identify, analyse, track, and support the resolution of defects throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Validate payment processing workflows including inbound and outbound payment transactions.
• Ensure compliance with banking and payment industry standards and messaging formats.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Test Automation Frameworks including:
• Selenium
• Cucumber
• Canary (or equivalent automation tools)
• Hands-on experience with JavaScript for writing automation scripts and Cucumber step definitions.
• Experience working with Spring / Spring Boot applications (preferred).
• Strong understanding of application, data, and infrastructure architecture.
• Experience testing APIs, web applications, and enterprise payment systems.
• Knowledge of AI-powered testing tools and automation accelerators.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration.
