QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER - OUTSIDE IR35 - 12 MONTH CONTRACT

One of Lorien's leading Public Sector clients is seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Engineer to join their team on an initial 12-month contract.

The client requires an experienced QA Engineer to support their Change & Digital Innovation function. The candidate will provide functional and automation QA expertise across various teams and projects. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter capable of creating and implementing functional and automation QA strategies and frameworks to meet project needs.

Responsibilities:
  1. Build and maintain functional and automation test/QA capabilities and frameworks.
  2. Collaborate with QA teams to achieve testing goals across multiple projects.
  3. Work with SMEs, BAs, POs, and developers to capture business processes and design automated solutions.
  4. Create and maintain automated regression and smoke test packs with version control.
  5. Provide QA expertise on projects/products.
  6. Produce high-quality test artifacts in line with Agile methodologies.
  7. Execute automated tests daily across various projects and infrastructures.
  8. Perform functional validation daily across projects.
  9. Report pass/fail criteria accurately and meaningfully.
  10. Conduct root cause analysis and resolve issues rapidly.
  11. Participate in daily stand-ups and delivery ceremonies.
  12. Integrate QA principles early in the software delivery process.
  13. Collaborate with developers on shifting testing left.
  14. Record and manage defects.
Essential Skills:
  • Extensive experience with testing tools such as JIRA, ALM, Azure, DevOps, Zephyr.
  • Ability to automate testing for web, mobile, and cross-platform applications.
  • Knowledge of automation tools like Selenium, WebDriverIO, Cypress.
  • Experience with automated test reporting via Cucumber.
  • Familiarity with version control and release tools such as GIT, Subversion, Jenkins, Azure DevOps.
  • Proven automation experience within Agile frameworks like DevOps, CI/CD.
  • Programming skills in C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, .NET, SQL, VBA/VBScript, shell scripting.
  • Understanding of software architectures (SOA, IaaS, SaaS, PaaS) and cloud solutions.
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies such as Agile (BDD, TDD, ATDD), Kanban, Waterfall, V-Model.
  • Previous experience with MS Dynamics, Power Apps, and Power Platform.
  • Experience with device emulation and API validation via Postman.
Experience:
  • ISEB/ISTQB Foundation certification.
  • Experience working with multiple software delivery and QA methodologies.
  • Minimum 5 years of automation testing/QA experience on large projects involving integration and migration.
  • Knowledge of testing lifecycle management tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working within the public sector.
