Job description

Our client is a leading global manufacturing company within the food and additives industry. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Assurance Controller to join their busy manufacturing facility in Little Walden.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quality professional to join a well-established organisation, supporting the delivery of high standards in food safety, product quality, and compliance across the site.

Hours

Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm Friday 7:00am - 4:00pm

The Role

As a Quality Assurance Controller, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. Working closely with production teams, you will provide day-to-day quality support, complete inspections and audits, and ensure products meet customer, legal, and company requirements.

You will play a key role in supporting the Quality Management System, promoting a strong food safety culture, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Your Responsibilities
  • Monitor GMP, hygiene, and site standards, communicating audit findings to the Quality Supervisor/Manager and Operations team.
  • Complete hygiene, fabric, foreign body, CCP, glass and hard plastic, and other site quality audits.
  • Support the maintenance of the company Quality Management System, including procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete traceability audits in line with schedules and customer requirements.
  • Support quality systems and assist with accreditation maintenance.
  • Carry out allergen, cleaning, and environmental swabbing activities, including validation checks.
  • Complete intake checks at the entrance to production and maintain supplier non-conformance records.
  • Monitor cleaning activities to ensure site standards and compliance are maintained.
  • Assist with audit preparation, completion of findings, and CAPA actions.
  • Support Quality and Food Safety training across the site.
  • Assist with investigations into customer complaints, deviations, and non-conforming products.
  • Monitor food safety, product integrity, legality, and quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Support commissioning and validation activities.
  • Verify and audit production paperwork and other quality-related documentation.
  • Collect samples and submit them to the QC laboratory.
  • Monitor compliance with product Quality Attribute Standards (QAS) and complete product quality checks.
  • Support customer queries and quality-related requests.
  • Complete Quality and Food Safety improvement projects as directed by the Quality Manager/Supervisor.
  • Support continuous improvement of the Quality Management System and HACCP processes.
  • Maintain and promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the site.
  • Complete temperature checks of fridges, freezers, and chilled products.
  • Escalate any quality, food safety, or Health & Safety concerns to the relevant managers.
  • Complete annual CCP validation activities across production areas.Record incidents and ensure corrective and preventative actions are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Carry out equipment checks, including replacement of knives, blades, and needles, ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed.
  • Assist with laboratory activities and provide cover when required.
  • Complete environmental swabbing activities and submit samples to external laboratories.
  • Attend factory toolbox talks to communicate quality and food safety updates and promote awareness.
  • Complete any other quality and food safety-related tasks as required by the Quality Manager or Supervisor.
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance role within a food manufacturing or food production environment.
  • A good understanding of food safety, GMP, HACCP, and quality management systems.
  • Experience completing quality inspections, audits, and compliance checks within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, investigate, and report quality issues accurately.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and complete quality documentation.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with production teams and support a positive quality culture.
  • A proactive, hands‑on approach with a strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility to support operational requirements when required.

You will have previous experience working within a food production or manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of quality control processes. You will be a detail-focused and proactive individual who takes pride in ensuring products are manufactured safely, consistently, and to the highest quality standards.

You will enjoy working collaboratively with production teams and contributing to the ongoing improvement of food safety, quality, and compliance standards across the site.
