Job summary

GTS Group Ltd is seeking an Assurance & Compliance Manager to own the internal audit programme across all functions and to assure QHSE compliance. The role will drive continual improvement, lead non-conformances and external audits for ISO 9001/14001/45001, and report to the governance director.

You will manage a small assurance team and influence senior stakeholders. Based in the Welsh Borders, this on-site, permanent role offers a competitive package with starting salary from £40,000 plus

Qualifications

• Extensive auditing experience in ISO-certified environments.
• Advanced knowledge of Quality, H&S and Environmental management systems.
• Strong investigation, analysis and reporting skills.
• Experience managing people and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Internal or Lead Auditor qualification.
• Defence or regulated manufacturing background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the internal audit programme across engineering, production, commercial and HR.
• Maintain Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
• Lead non-conformance investigations, corrective actions and continual improvement.
• Coordinate ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications and external audits.
• Provide assurance reporting to the senior leadership team.
• Lead and develop a small assurance team.

Assurance & Compliance Manager | QHSE & Internal Audit | Defence Technology

Most audit roles stop at checking that the boxes are ticked. This one asks whether the business actually works the way it says it does, and gives you the authority to fix it when it doesn't.

My client is a defence technology business that designs and builds equipment used by UK and allied forces on operations. It’s small enough that you’ll know everyone across the business, and it has the security of a larger defence group behind it. They’re now hiring an Assurance & Compliance Manager to give independent assurance that every department is meeting its legal, contractual and organisational obligations.

What you’ll own

• The internal audit programme across every business function, from engineering and production to commercial and HR
• Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems
• Non-conformance investigations, corrective actions and continual improvement
• ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification, including leading external audits
• Assurance reporting to the senior leadership team
• Leading and developing a small assurance team

You’ll report to the director responsible for governance and compliance.

What you’ll bring

• Extensive auditing experience in an ISO-certified environment
• Advanced knowledge across Quality, H&S and Environmental management systems (all three, not just one)
• Strong investigation, analysis and reporting skills
• Experience managing people and influencing senior stakeholders
• Internal or Lead Auditor qualification
• Defence, aerospace or another regulated manufacturing background helps, but strong QHSE auditors from other sectors are welcome
