Location: 236 Felixstowe Road

Position: Quality Assurance and Practice Lead, Ipswich Short Break Service

Salary: £12.72 per hour

Type: Permanent part-time, 15-hour post available

Hours: To suit service needs, including occasional weekends, evenings, and mornings for staff compliance audits

Leading Lives provides social care support for people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs in the home and community across Suffolk and neighboring counties. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise owned by our employees. Surpluses are reinvested into services or the local community.

Role Overview

Working closely with the Director and Service Manager, you will ensure the Short Break team at Burgess House complies with social care quality standards such as CQC, Local Authorities, and Leading Lives policies. You will need to audit the service effectively, which may require working during weekends and between 3.30 pm and 10 am.

This service offers short breaks for customers, providing the opportunity to work with individuals with diverse personalities and support needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular compliance, quality audits, and spot checks
  • Maintain and update care files, medication, and H&S records, making recommendations as needed
  • Ensure customer service aligns with the company's customer charter
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with GDPR
  • Audit GDPR practices locally to ensure standards are met
  • Write and update moving and handling risk assessments
  • Communicate effectively with the management team and build positive relationships
  • Create personal risk assessments for customer support plans
  • Mentor, support, and supervise staff as needed
  • Support development plans, care certificates, and witness testimonials for RQF
  • Assess customer needs and support conversations with families
Requirements
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience working in a care setting supporting individuals with learning disabilities, complex needs, and risk assessments
  • Knowledge of H&S and care legislation
  • Experience in Quality Assurance
  • Understanding of GDPR legislation
  • Knowledge of legal requirements in health and social care
  • Competency in total communication and PBS
  • Good numerical, IT, planning, and organizational skills
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills
