Job description

Competitive salary dependent on experience

Location:Onsite at our offices in Amersham, Buckinghamshire HP6

Are you a hands‑on Quality or Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and working closely with production teams to get things right first time?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing quality function within a specialist aerospace interiors manufacturing environment. You’ll play a key role in supporting shopfloor operations, improving process capability, investigating non‑conformities and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing, assembly, trim and finishing activities.

If you enjoy being close to the action, working collaboratively with production, engineering, inspection and supply chain teams, and making a visible impact on product quality, manufacturing performance and customer satisfaction, this could be the ideal next step for you.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a hands‑on Quality and Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing Quality team and play a key role in supporting manufacturing performance, product conformity and continuous improvement across our shopfloor operations.

This is a varied role that combines quality engineering and manufacturing engineering responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with production teams to solve problems, improve processes and ensure products are manufactured right first time.

You will be involved in the manufacture, assembly, trim and finishing of aerospace interior components, supporting everything from New Product Introduction and process development through to non‑conformance investigation, product release and compliance. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will help strengthen our quality systems, improve manufacturing capability and contribute to a culture of product safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Full-time hours

Your normal working hours will be 38 hours per week, typically worked Monday – Thursday 08:00 - 16:30 and Friday 08:00-14:30 with a 30-minute lunch. You will be required to be flexible with your working hours to meet the needs of the business.

What can we offer you?

In return for your hard work, you will be offered a competitive salary and a great range of benefits including:

  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience),
  • 25 days holiday (rising to 30 days at 10 years service) plus 8 bank holidays,
  • Critical Health Insurance,
  • Death in service cover (3 times your basic salary),
  • Discretionary bonus scheme,
  • Free onsite parking with free electric car charging,
  • Being part of a strong and sociable team.
What will I be responsible for?

In this role, you will act as a key quality and manufacturing engineering contact for production, workshop and shopfloor operations. You will support teams to ensure products are manufactured in line with drawings, specifications, work instructions, approved processes and customer requirements.

Your responsibilities will include monitoring and improving manufacturing and assembly processes, supporting Lean and 5S activities, driving continuous improvement, and helping to improve throughput, efficiency, process capability and right-first-time performance.

You will investigate non‑conformities, customer complaints and process failures, leading root cause corrective actions and ensuring actions are effective in preventing recurrence. You will also support process validation, manufacturing trials, tooling development, manufacturing readiness reviews and the successful introduction of new products, materials and processes.

The role will also involve supporting inspection and product release activities, reviewing quality records and First Article Inspection documentation within authorised limits, and ensuring non‑conforming product is identified, contained and escalated appropriately.

In addition, you will help maintain strong process control and risk management through control plans, process flow diagrams, process risk assessments and support for PFMEA activities. You will also contribute to material compliance requirements, including REACH, RoHS, SVHC and PFAS, working with suppliers and customers where required.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in quality engineering within aerospace, aviation interiors, precision manufacturing or another regulated manufacturing environment. You may hold an HNC, HND, degree, apprenticeship or equivalent experience in manufacturing, quality, mechanical or aerospace engineering.

You will be confident working directly with operators, production leaders, engineering, supply chain and inspection teams, bringing a practical, proactive and collaborative approach to problem solving and process improvement.

We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail, integrity and the confidence to constructively challenge non‑compliance. You will be comfortable using quality tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, control plans and corrective and preventative actions, and you will understand the importance of traceability, configuration control, documentation discipline and product safety.

Experience with First Article Inspection, process validation, non‑conformance management, AS9100D, aerospace inspection requirements and Lean manufacturing techniques would be highly beneficial. Knowledge of plastic fabrication, machining, bonding, trimming, assembly processes, aerospace interiors or material compliance requirements would also be advantageous.

Above all, you will be an analytical and resilient problem‑solver who can manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly and help drive continuous improvement in a busy production environment.
