Job summary

Newcastle University is seeking a Research Assistant/Associate on an ESRC IAA project focused on rural futures in Gateshead. The role is part-time (0.2FTE) and fixed-term, with duties spanning data collection, analysis, and community engagement in collaboration with Gateshead Council and local partners.

We welcome applicants from Humanities or Social Sciences backgrounds, with experience in participatory qualitative research and stakeholder engagement. DBS check may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience applying creative participatory qualitative research methods (e.g., co-produced studies).
• Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders and communities.
• Ability to recruit participants and plan participatory data collection activities.
• Ability to analyze and interpret qualitative data using established methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead liaison with Gateshead Council, Youth Focus North East, Citizens UK, and local groups to coordinate recruitment and engagement.
• Facilitate community workshops, focus groups and meetings with children, adults and policymakers.
• Collect, analyse and interpret research data; contribute to dissemination of findings.
• Coordinate activities with project partners and local authorities.
• Maintain relationships with community groups and schools throughout the project.
