Job summary
Sigma, Castleford-based specialist in building services, is seeking an experienced Qualifying Supervisor to lead electrical testing, commissioning and defect management across multiple projects. You will be the key point of contact for electrical compliance, testing and defect management, working with project managers, contractors and site teams to deliver safe, compliant works.
The ideal candidate will hold 18th Edition (BS7671), City & Guilds 2394/2395/2391 and NVQ Level 3 Electrical
Qualifications
- Experience leading electrical testing, inspection and defect management.
- Strong knowledge of NICEIC requirements and BS7671.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- Act as the lead contact for electrical testing and compliance across live projects.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, certification and handovers.
- Maintain testing records, trackers and certificates within deadlines.
- Visit sites to assess installation quality and commissioning activities.
- Support quality assurance inspections and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers for testing and defect rectification.
- Ensure defect works are completed safely with risk assessments and method statements.
- Maintain weekly defect tracking and report progress to management.
- Attend meetings with project teams, contractors and clients to resolve issues.
- Promote Health & Safety, QA and Environmental policies.
- Build relationships with colleagues, customers and external stakeholders.

We are seeking an experienced Qualifying Supervisor to support the delivery, testing, commissioning and close-out of electrical installations across multiple projects. Acting as the key point of contact for electrical compliance, testing and defect management, you will work closely with Project Managers, contractors and site teams to ensure works are completed safely, to the highest quality standards, and in accordance with current NICEIC and BS7671 requirements.
- Act as the lead contact for electrical testing and compliance across live projects and those within the defects liability period.
- Oversee the completion of electrical testing, commissioning, certification and project handovers.
- Manage and maintain electrical testing, calibration and PAT testing records and trackers.
- Monitor project progress and ensure test certificates are issued within required timescales.
- Carry out regular site visits to assess installation quality, testing programmes and commissioning activities.
- Support Project Managers with quality assurance inspections and compliance requirements.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers undertaking testing, maintenance and defect rectification works.
- Ensure all defect works are completed safely and is supported by approved risk assessments and method statements.
- Maintain weekly defect tracking schedules and provide regular progress updates to management teams.
- Attend meetings with project teams, contractors and clients to resolve issues and support successful project delivery.
- Promote compliance with company Health & Safety, Quality Assurance and Environmental policies.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, customers and external stakeholders.
- Previous experience in a Qualifying Supervisor, Approved Electrician, Testing & Inspection or similar electrical compliance role.
- Strong understanding of electrical installation, testing, commissioning and defect management processes.
- Experience working on commercial construction or building services projects.
- Knowledge of NICEIC requirements and current electrical regulations.
- Experience managing multiple projects and working with subcontractors and site teams.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Experience maintaining project documentation, trackers and compliance records.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities.
- Effective problem-solving and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Professional, proactive and customer‑focused approach.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Able to prioritise workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
- City & Guilds 2394 & 2395 / 2391 Testing & Inspection
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation, City & Guilds 2360 Part 1 & 2, or equivalent
- ECS/CSCS Gold Card
