TeacherActive are proud to be recruiting for a qualified ALN Teacher (Additional Learning Needs Teacher) with QTS to work on a full-time, long-term basis in a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Caerphilly. This role offers the opportunity to become a permanent position, making it ideal for teachers seeking long-term stability and career progression.

Due to our strong partnerships with secondary schools and specialist provisions across Caerphilly and the surrounding areas, there is a growing demand for experienced ALN / SEN Teachers who are passionate about inclusive education.

What Does an ALN Teacher Do?

An ALN Teacher (Additional Learning Needs Teacher) supports students who require additional help accessing education due to learning difficulties, disabilities, or behavioural challenges.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver tailored and differentiated lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Support students with conditions such as autism (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia, and SEMH (social, emotional and mental health needs)
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support engagement and progress
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Create and implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) in line with the ALN framework in Wales

You will play a key role in creating an inclusive, structured, and supportive learning environment, ensuring every student can thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons for ALN students

Requirements

The successful ALN Teacher will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with ALN / SEN students in a school or specialist setting
  • Understanding of the ALN Code for Wales (desirable)
  • Knowledge of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other additional needs
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable teaching approach
