Role Overview

Are you an experienced and passionate Qualified Social Worker looking for career progression? We are seeking dedicated professionals to join our Fostering Team. In this role, you will discharge responsibilities under the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation concerning children in need, particularly those requiring protection or in care. We provide regular supervision and group reflective sessions.

As part of our Greater Manchester Assessment Project Team, you will work in a busy, supportive environment assessing and working with children and families to intervene early, promoting positive outcomes and sustainable change. Your work will involve direct assessments with children and families, collaborating with agencies like police and health services, and linking with community support initiatives.

In accordance with social care legislation and local government standards, you will support the delivery of person-centered, safe, and effective social care services. Using your professional expertise, you will make assessments and decisions about interventions, establishing and maintaining relationships with service users and agencies to meet their needs. Your commitment will help ensure positive, sustainable results for children and families, emphasizing protection and efficient service delivery.

Ideal Candidate

• Registered with Social Work England
• Experienced with children and families, including vulnerable groups
• Familiar with Court, Children in Need, and Child Protection procedures
• Experience supporting CIN and Child Protection planning, pre-proceedings, and court processes
• Understanding of factors affecting children, such as abuse and neglect
• Proficient in Child & Family Assessments with effective analysis and planning skills
• Ability to undertake direct work with children and families
• Creative, flexible, and proactive approach
• Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and issues
• Committed to continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes
• Excellent mediation and negotiation skills
• Strong relationship-building skills with children and families
• Experienced in multi-disciplinary, interagency work
• Minimum 2 years qualified experience
