Job summary

Babcock at RNAS Yeovilton, Somerset, seeks a Qualified Flying Instructor to train military pilots on the Grob 115E Tutor, covering navigation, instrument flying, aerobatics, and core flying disciplines.

You will deliver one-to-one instruction, conduct flying grading, and produce end-of-course reports while upholding strict flight-safety standards and a strong military ethos on-site, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must have DTTT V2 and Military Flying Supervisors/Flight Authorisers course certifications.
• CPL with IR is preferred for FI qualification.
• Previous military flying and instructional experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one flying instruction and mentoring student pilots.
• Conduct flying grading and assessment activities per approved training standards.
• Complete end-of-course reports and maintain training records.

As a Qualified Flying Instructor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll help train the military pilots of the future, supporting candidates aspiring to become the next Apache, Wildcat, Merlin and F-35 pilots through flying grading on the Babcock Grob 115E Tutor aircraft.

The role

You’ll support dedicated students through a flying syllabus covering navigation, instrument flying, aerobatics and other core flying disciplines, helping them achieve their potential in a challenging and highly rewarding environment.

This is a unique opportunity to combine your flying expertise with a rewarding instructional role, making a direct contribution to UK defence capability while developing your own career within a world-leading aerospace and defence organisation.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

• Deliver one-to-one flying instruction and mentoring student pilots.
• Conduct flying grading and assessment activities in accordance with approved training standards.
• Complete end-of-course reports and maintaining accurate training records.
• Promote and maintaining a strong military ethos while supporting student welfare and development.
• Maintain the highest standards of flight safety, quality and professional communication.

This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based on site at Yeovil, Somerset.

Essential experience of the Qualified Flying Instructor

• Previous military flying experience.
• Aerobatic flying experience.
• Formation flying experience.
• Experience operating within a highly regulated aviation environment.
• Previous instructional experience would be advantageous, particularly as a Qualified Flying Instructor.

Qualifications for the Qualified Flying Instructor

• DTTT V2
• Completed the Military Flying Supervisors Course/Flight Authorisers Course
• Either: Hold or have held a CPL with IR (FI preferred)
