M&E Contrax Ltd is seeking an experienced Qualified Electrician to join our team, primarily on-site across Exeter, Devon and surrounding areas. The role includes testing, commissioning, and maintenance, with responsibility as NICEIC Qualified Supervisor for technical standards and compliance.

We welcome candidates with Solar PV, battery storage experience, or renewable energy qualifications, and are prepared for occasional travel across the South West.

M&E Contrax Ltd is looking for an experienced and motivated Qualified Electrician to join our growing team, working across Exeter, Devon and the surrounding areas.

About the role

This is predominantly an on-site electrical role, carrying out a varied range of commercial and industrial electrical installations, testing, commissioning and maintenance.

As part of the role, the successful candidate will also become our NICEIC Qualified Supervisor, taking responsibility for the technical standards and compliance of electrical work carried out by the company.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have previous Solar PV and battery storage experience, or relevant renewable energy qualifications.

The majority of work will be based across the South West, although working away from home may occasionally be required depending on project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out commercial, industrial and the occasional domestic electrical installations
• Inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical installations
• Complete Electrical Installation Certificates, EICRs and associated certification
• Act as the company’s NICEIC Qualified Supervisor
• Review and sign off electrical work completed by the company
• Ensure installations comply with BS 7671, NICEIC requirements and current industry standards
• Carry out site inspections and quality checks
• Provide technical guidance and support to other electricians and apprentices
• Assist with NICEIC audits and assessments
• Maintain accurate testing, certification and compliance records
• Installation, testing and commissioning of Solar PV and battery storage systems, where suitably qualified
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and workmanship across all projects

The successful candidate should have:

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations – BS 7671
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing, or equivalent 2394/2395 qualification
• AM2 or equivalent recognised electrical qualification
• Good experience carrying out commercial electrical installations
• Strong inspection, testing and fault-finding experience
• Experience completing electrical certification
• The experience and qualifications required to act as an NICEIC Qualified Supervisor
• Good understanding of electrical regulations and compliance requirements
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider installation team
• Willingness to work away from home occasionally when required
• Experience or qualifications in any of the following would be particularly advantageous:

• Battery storage systems
• Solar PV inspection, testing and commissioning
• EV charging
• Commercial renewable energy installations
• ECS Gold Card
• IPAF and/or PASMA
• Previous experience acting as an NICEIC Qualified Supervisor
