Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a motivated and skilled Qualified Children and Young People\u2019s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to join our Citywide Targeted CAMHS Team. Working within a supportive multi-disciplinary service, you will deliver high-quality, outcome-focused and evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Job description

Contract Type: Fixed term (March 2027)

Working Hours: 37 Hours per week, 2 posts available

Worker Type: Hybrid worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £33,673 (Level one) rising to £36,581 (Level four) per annum (pro rata for part-time)

Location:Multiple Nottingham City Locations, predominantly Loxley House and Bulwell Riverside.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and skilled Qualified Children and Young People's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to join our Citywide Targeted CAMHS Team. Working within a supportive multi-disciplinary service, you will deliver high-quality, outcome-focused and evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, behavioural difficulties and presentations where neurodevelopmental differences may be impacting emotional wellbeing.
You will undertake assessments, screening and formulation-informed intervention planning, delivering structured therapeutic interventions that support children, young people and families to achieve positive outcomes. You will work collaboratively with children, families and professional networks to promote resilience, wellbeing and meaningful change.

The role includes delivering one-to-one and group interventions, providing consultation, advice and training to partner agencies, and working closely with schools, health services, social care and community organisations to improve understanding of children's mental health and increase access to support.
You will be expected to identify, assess and manage appropriate levels of risk, including safeguarding concerns, self-harm and emerging mental health difficulties. Working within clinical governance arrangements, you will communicate risk effectively and ensure children and young people with increasing complexity are escalated appropriately and supported to access the most suitable pathway for their needs.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

Essential Experience

• Experience of assessing and delivering evidence-based interventions to children, young people and families presenting with a range of emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, behavioural difficulties and presentations where neurodevelopmental differences impact emotional wellbeing.
• Experience of identifying, assessing and managing risk appropriately, including safeguarding concerns and self-harm, whilst working collaboratively with partner agencies and escalating complexity when required.

Essential Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of child development, neurodevelopment, child wellbeing and child and adolescent mental health, including factors that contribute to emotional, social and behavioural difficulties.
• Knowledge of evidence-based interventions, safeguarding processes, risk assessment and early intervention approaches within children and young people's mental health services.

Essential Skills and Competencies

• Ability to undertake mental health assessments and deliver structured evidence-based interventions to children, young people and families, adapting approaches to meet diverse needs and deliver both individual and group interventions.
• Ability to assess, communicate and appropriately manage risk, alongside delivering consultation, advice and psychoeducational training to professionals, parents and partner agencies.
