Job summary

The Percy Hedley Foundation is seeking a qualified British Sign Language Independent Living Support Worker to assist two young men in their first home in Newcastle upon Tyne. You will support daily living, personal care, and help them engage with community activities to improve quality of life.

You will need a Level 1+ BSL qualification and a good understanding of Positive Behaviour Support. The role requires flexibility, teamwork and a person-centred approach in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Level 1+ British Sign Language qualification required.
• Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and autism-related needs desirable.
• Flexible, friendly and able to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Support two young men in their first home, enabling daily living and personal care.
• Assist with community activities and building relationships to improve quality of life.
• Provide 24/7 rota-based support, including some days and waking nights; manage behaviours of concern.
