Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Secondary QTS Tutor to support students at Blyth on a 1:1 or small-group basis, helping those not in full-time mainstream education. The role involves delivering maths and English toward GCSEs and Functional Skills, with personalised lesson plans and SEND/SEMH accommodations.

You will build strong relationships, use engaging teaching methods, and aim to reintegrate students into mainstream education or an appropriate educational setting.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).
• Experience supporting young people with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Experience with disengaged learners or challenging behaviour; PRU/AP experience beneficial.
• Experience within a PRU, AP or similar setting is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 or small-group tuition in Maths and English toward GCSEs/Functional Skills.
• Develop and deliver personalised lesson plans addressing learning gaps and needs.
• Adapt teaching approaches for SEND, ADHD, autism, SEMH and anxiety.
• Build positive relationships and use engaging teaching strategies to improve participation and motivation.
• Support students toward reintegration into mainstream education or appropriate provision.
