Advanced Manufacturing | Aerospace, Defence & Engineering | Nuneaton, Warwickshire
We're partnering with a growing advanced-manufacturing business supplying demanding aerospace, Defence and engineering markets to recruit an experienced, hands-on QHSE Manager.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of QHSE performance, influence operational standards and drive continuous improvement across a technically complex manufacturing environment.
This role is about much more than compliance. You'll be a visible presence across the operation, working closely with manufacturing, engineering, inspection, supply chain and programme teams to embed a culture where quality, safety and environmental responsibility are part of everyday practice.
If you're a proactive QHSE professional who enjoys solving problems, challenging constructively and turning standards into practical improvements, this could be your next career move.
You’ll lead the development and continual improvement of quality, environmental and health and safety systems, ensuring compliance while supporting operational performance and customer confidence.
Your responsibilities will include:
Quality management: Own and improve the Quality Management System in line with AS9100 and ISO 9001, maintaining effective traceability, document control, calibration and quality records.
Audits and compliance: Lead internal, certification, customer and supplier audits, ensuring robust preparation, effective responses and timely close-out.
Problem-solving and corrective action: Manage non-conformances, customer complaints, CAPA, 8D investigations and root-cause analysis, ensuring corrective actions deliver lasting results.
Environmental performance: Maintain and develop the Environmental Management System to ISO 14001, covering legal compliance, environmental objectives, waste controls and performance reporting.
Health and safety: Lead risk assessments, COSHH, incident investigations, contractor management, training and safe systems of work.
Aerospace and Defence requirements: Support relevant customer and industry requirements, including AQAP, First Article Inspection, supplier quality and special-process expectations where applicable.
Continuous improvement: Work alongside operational teams to strengthen process assurance, inspection controls, risk management and shop-floor performance.
Management reporting: Monitor QHSE performance, present clear reports and contribute to management reviews.
You’ll bring proven QHSE or Quality Management experience from aerospace, Defence, precision engineering or another regulated manufacturing environment, together with the confidence to influence people at every level.
Ideally, you’ll have:
Strong practical knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
Experience leading audits, certification activity and customer or supplier audit programmes.
A solid understanding of NCR management, CAPA, 8D, root-cause analysis and corrective-action verification.
Manufacturing experience, ideally involving machining, composites, tooling, assembly, inspection or complex engineered products.
The ability to translate compliance requirements into practical, effective shop-floor controls.
Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.
An internal or lead-auditor qualification in ISO 9001 and/or AS9100.
A recognised health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate, would be highly desirable. Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection, AQAP, NADCAP, Lean, 5S or Six Sigma would also be advantageous.
This is a chance to combine technical expertise with visible leadership in a demanding, quality-critical manufacturing environment.
Working closely with the General Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to influence standards, strengthen processes and build relationships across the operation. You’ll play a key role in improving quality, protecting people, supporting customer requirements and driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in high standards, works collaboratively and understands that effective QHSE is achieved through engaging people, preventing problems and continually raising performance.
